All Grain Brewing - Cheaper Than Dirt

Great article. I hope to never be constrained to your type of system, but if i lived in an apartment and had no money I would do this. This is the kind of thing people need to be doing all the time. sooooo easy

What do you do to make money on the side?

Count and measure trees for developers. About $6k per year at $40per hour is a good side job for me.

Why is commercial beer getting more expensive?

I get drunk from pbr and enjoy my homebrew

Why is commercial beer getting more expensive?

Bought a 4 pack of Tank 7 for $10 other day and it was well worth it. I never bought the bomber of Tank 7 because of the alcohol content. I think Boulevard prices their beer well. As for Sculpin, it seems they set it on the shelf at $14 and people said oooo expensive must mean good. Now it's $15 .

First Time Using My Keggle - Stained Inside Bottom

Looks like mineral deposits. I would try star San. I also would recommend the don't worry about it approach. Unless you think it is some kind of chemical residue or something bad just leave it. I never use any kind of cleaner on my keggle. Just rinse it as soon as your done boiling, wipe it out...

    Cheap compact wort pump

Ok, I finally started using the 12 volt solar pump to circulate my mash. Works quite well so far. Here is my video https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=FLhvtD_jxlg

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Nope, he embellished quite a bit about it being as strong as moonshine. Just a know it all dumb ass who not only didn't know how to read a hydrometer, but also had no knowledge of the limitations of yeast or the physical properties of alcohol.

2 most important things you learned/wish you knew

Where are these forums you speak about?

2 most important things you learned/wish you knew

It took me quite a few brews before I realized that I didn't need to fill my kettle with cleaner and then sanitize it before brewing. Now I only lightly scrub it sometimes. #2 would be using a pump in a ice chest with ice water to chill instead of running the hose for 30 mins

Funny things you've overheard about beer

So I had some horrible mead that a guy I know made. He put fireball candy in it. He is an older man that has done this many times. He proceeded to tell me that he bought the wrong yeast and it fermented out to 80% alcohol. I just smiled and nodded. I would say though that by the taste it was in...

    Last brew day of 2015

I'm doing a blonde this weekend, and probably a brew during xmas break

    Leafy crap in my wort

Probably yeast. It can look dark instead of the normal tan if it is in a dark beer.

    Confession Time

I just drank old star san. I was drinking a glass of water. Went out to my ferm chamber to check brew, decided it was time for a cold crash. Drank the rest of my glass of water and dumped all but a little bit of the star san from my blow off into empty water glass, adjusted the temp. Messed...

    Wood fired copper water heater

So I already have an old 25 foot copper immersion chiller that I don't use. Just thought I'd stick it in The fire and run tap water through it. No extra cost for me at all. Wood is free too.

Need advice - had a hiccup with bottling!!

Yes, but only use just enough water to dissolve the sugar. Like a 1/4 cup

    Wood fired copper water heater

I was wondering if there is a thread out there or someone with exp running strike and sparge water through copper that is in a wood fire. I could save money on propane if this was a safe effective thing to do. I know that the tubing would need to be full of water and open at one end at all times...
