Best way to wire indoor BCS to outside brew rig?

Yeah, the more I go back and look at that line, the less I can remember what I was thinking. I believe what I was trying to say is that I won't be using the BCS to its fullest capabilities if it is only driving two pumps and one RIMS elementon the rig. My thought process was that if I was going...

That's what I was thinking too. I appreciate the input from those who have done similar!

Two-tier all-grain Stainless RIMS Rig for sale - Greensboro, NC

Here are some pics I took this morning with my phone. Maybe not the best quality or lighting... Control Box HLT: Three Way Valve: RIMS (chugger, RIMS tube). BTW: I know this wiring isn't safe. There are other options if you want to make something yourself. I am comfortable not...

    Tri-clover sizing and pumps

You are going to have hard edges somewhere in your system regardless of which size you choose if your pump inlet is 1/2". Your output is going to be controlled by a valve anyway so I wouldn't worry about that. If your are going to use site glasses and other 1.5" devices on the input side of...

Best way to wire indoor BCS to outside brew rig?

I'm thinking about getting a BCS system. I assume it would be best to mount the BCS control box near my fermentation chamber since it will always need to be plugged in. But how should I connect the BCS to my outdoor propane RIMS rig? Distance is probably 20-30' but I could possibly move things...

Two-tier all-grain Stainless RIMS Rig for sale - Greensboro, NC

I built this rig during the last year. It works really well but I'm thinking about redesigning it and building another single tier rig this winter. This Beauty (dubbed The Defibrewlator) is built from 1.5" stainless tubing with stainless splash/heat shields on the front side and 5" locking...

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

If you aren't looking to do temperature control, you can use one of these to turn your sanke into a fermenter.

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

Yeah, I thought about that but I wanted to keep the freezer as intact as possible. Yes, if I was just doing heating there would be better options than Flexwatt.

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

I actually just got back to working on this thing in the last week or so. Real life interfered for a few months. I will probably just get a rheostat from Lowe's and wire it into the heating circuit and dial it back to like 80%. So far I've got the copper coiled around my keg but I haven't...

    Temperature Controlled Plastic Conical

I think if you use a water bath it will freeze solid and you'll get pretty poor heat transfer. Better off using glycol and possibly even a recirculating pump to keep it moving in the bath vessel.

    Temperature Controlled Plastic Conical

I am in the process of doing something very similar to this. I have 50' of 3/8" copper coiled on the outside of a standard 1/2bbl sankey keg. Do you guys think 6 gallons of 50/50 glycol chilled to about -5degF in my chest freezer will have the cooling capacity to get 10-15 gallons of fermenting...

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

I don't know if anyone else is following along here but I'm going to keep documenting my trials and errors. So this little pump is definitely too small even for free flowing room temperature 50/50 glycol. I can only imagine it would be worse with increasing viscosity as the stuff cools down to...

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

I picked up one of these fountain pumps as well as 50'x 3/8" OD soft copper and 20'x 3/8" ID vinyl tubing. I had to go to Tractor Supply for the propylene glycol, but it was $20 for a gallon of concentrated stuff. Diluted to 60% it won't freeze until something like -20degF so if this proof of...

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

P-J, im guessing your commercial unit was one that both chilled and pumped the coolant, right? Do you a have any concerns about a basic fountain/pond pump getting the glycol moving? I was looking at a 200gph unit at Lowes today. I'm also looking to do a dual stage heating and cooling...

Seeking feedback/advice for temperature controlled sanke fermenter

So I have a spare Sanke keg that I'm planning to turn into a temperature controlled fermenter. My current plan is to wrap a coil of copper tubing around the keg and circulate chilled glycol through it. I would like to put a bucket of glycol in my chest freezer with a submersible pond/fountain...

    Help with Ferm Chamber/Stand

Cool, you'd probably be good if you keep the heavy stuff on the bottom. I'd also be worried about it being top heavy if the carboys are up top.

    Help with Ferm Chamber/Stand

I would be concerned about sloshing my fermenting beer around while wheeling it from place to place on brew day. Not to mention the 200lbs of beer plus weight of 5 buckets/carboys or more if you cram them in there.

First time using blichman conical fermenter

I'm thinking about building a conical out of a spare sankey. I am planning on wrapping some copper tubing around and pumping glycol from a small chest freezer for cooling and flexwatt for heating. Then insulate with reflectix. It seems like a lot of extra work, BUT it would also allow me to...
