    Clearing up pumpkin ale?

I'm going to give it another week in secondary or so then bottle it. Most of my beers are a little cloudy / have a chill haze anyway. It does kind of have the haze of a wheat beer at the moment.

    Brew day gone awry, maybe...

You'll still get beer. It may not be what you were looking for but you'll certainly end up with beer! Rdwhahb?

    Clearing up pumpkin ale?

I brewed an AG pumpkin ale about 3 weeks ago, I put 2 cans of pumpkin purée in at 90. The wort was pitched with wlp001 and hit 1.009 pretty easily. I racked it off the sludge earlier this week in another carboy in hopes of clarifying it some more. I had a bunch more yeast drop out, but the beer...

    What next

How about an American iPa? I brewed a wil Wheaton recipe that came out delicious, and I'm not the biggest iPa fan

    White house beer

Dammit...I just brewed the brown ale this week....did a full boil on the 1lb honey. Dammit.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I racked my pumpkin ale to secondary, beer is really cloudy but getting better. I had 5" of pumpkin sludge in it that went into the composter. I would have liked to harvest the wlp001 in it but with so much crud in it I wasn't messing with $6 of yeast. My extract whitehouse honey ale is still...

    home brew supply shops in......NJ!

I've done a couple BA kits, their fields of golden wheat was to die for, delicious. Metedeconk summer ale was good, not great though. I tried deep nuts brown ale at a tasting event they had, it was excellent there but when I brewed it on premises with friends it was mediocre (before my acquiring...

    home brew supply shops in......NJ!

Dunno what bridge YOU'RE taking but those bridges are $5 these days!!! :) I live close to brewapp, their yeast selection is ok I guess and their grain prices are a little high. The people are super nice and for you extract brewers their kits are really quite affordable. I doubt ANYONE has...

    Beverage Jugs vs Drink Coolers?

I have the lowes variety and it cost me $47... It's awesome. I have the 5 gall for a HLT as well, but so far fly sparging seems to be just a PITA vs batch.

    Moving primary feementor

What about brewing, then transporting the wort before fermentation? Strap the carboy in a baby seat! (I saw this on northern brewery's YouTube channel) :)

Picked up materials for the White House Honey Ale

    I can't imagine it'll be 'bad', it's still beer!

Picked up materials for the White House Honey Ale

I'm going to try and get it as close as possible given the constraints of my lhbs. I suppose I can drop .4 lb of LME and save for starters, the honey will be close, my only real departure is the steeping grain being crystal90 ... Austin lists wlp002 as a yeast option so I assume it's style...

Picked up materials for the White House Honey Ale

Any substitutions were discussed with me first really....they made a suggestion of 90L and I went with it. It was also my decision to go with the white labs vial instead of the s04. The LME could have been handled slightly better I suppose but in the end it's 6oz of extra syrup I had to buy.

Add more malt in the secondary?

my English strong bitter started off the same way.. i missed my numbers completely.. 12lbs of grain (10lbs maris otter, 1lb white wheat malt 1lb crystal 20) was supposed to give me a FG of 1065 ... I ended up with 1.045 .. It didnt ferment down as far as i wanted with the s04 either, but i...

Picked up materials for the White House Honey Ale

Have a couple questions, since this recipe released is a little vague (and has typos! Recipe lists 1.5oz fuggles as ingredients but instructions only add .5oz). I'm mostly an AG brewer these days but I'm looking to take a brew 'vacation' and do an extract brew, give my mash tun a break. My...

    Extract/AG Rivalry

just my 2 pennies here, but i wasnt surprised at all to see the whitehouse beer being extract. The guys making the beer are CHEFS. NOT BREWMASTERS. You couldn't walk into their kitchen and make their incredible sauces and creations on YOUR first shot, why would you expect them to walk into...

5 or 6 gal glass carboys

So far the best lhbs store I've encountered is keystone in Montgomery ...they have a huge selection of EVERYTHING..including glass carboys in stock(freehold only stocks better bottles but will and can order anything). Freehold is nice because they use so much LME for brew on premises that the...

5 or 6 gal glass carboys

I live 4 miles from the freehold store. The people are nice and heir prices are competitive , but the selection is limited (especially yeast wise). I bought all my carboys off Craigslist (incidentally all cl purchases were from SJ). Feel Free to pm me if you want some help in your searching:)
