    all grain brew day in under 4.5 hrs!

    I do 5 gallons in 3 hrs 15minutes. If you get your water to the right temp, that'll save you 5+ minutes, then when you drain and mash in again, you only need to wait for the grain bed to settle (5 minutes), that'll save you another 15 minutes. Keep trying to get more efficient! You can even...

    Collar Finishing Advice Needed

    You have a couple of options here. First, if you have a good hand saw, and 1/16" extra wood, you can run your saw right back down that joint and reglue it. That'll make everything match up perfectly and eliminate the line. Next, you could fill it, but it'll always stand out. Lastly, you can...

    Need help

    162 is always a good safe strike water temp if you don't know what it should be. Sparge/mash out with 150ish water. There is no need to do a mash out step. As you will be boiling the wort and bringing the temp up to stop the enzymatic activity anyway. I'm sure you'll get responses that say...

    Pumpkin = PITA

    I've posted on a few forums, countless times that you can just put cans of pumpkin directly into the fermenter and rack the wort ontop of it, straight out of the kettle. It works great and solves this slow/stuck runoff issue.

    How do folks reduce their brewing time

    When mashing for 20 minutes I lose about 2 efficiency points. Not much. If you mash for 20 minutes, then drain, that time counts as mashing. So your really getting close to 30 minutes. Mash out? I never do it. If I mash at 152 then the grain bednever gets hotter. Sometimes if I forget to...

    Leaf! Come back. Things are different now! Need a storage container? There's a guy in Somerdale selling 15 gallon barrels (great fermenters I might add) for $8 each. Rubber gasket on the lid. They seal up great! Ferman, if I can't get up there for the pick up and you are going, can...

    How do folks reduce their brewing time

    Your biggest time saver is going to be cutting your mash time down. Cut your mash time to 15-20 minutes and then start recirculating. DO NOT RAISE THE TEMP FOR A MASHOUT! Not only is it unnecessary, but it'll stop the enzyme activity that you need. By the time that you finish recirculating...
