Co2 tank way lower today but i cant seem to find the leak

The regulator is not a good measure of whether you're losing gas or not. You really need to weigh the tank to tell. A 5lb tank weighs 7.5lbs when empty.

    Jazz Fest, here I come!

On my way from Texas to New Orleans this weekend! This is my third year in a row to make this pilgrimage. I'm told that Bayou Teche is a good thing to bring back to Texas from the bottle stores. We have Abita all over Texas already. Any other advice?

    Advice for Wine in Beer

Follow-up question on this: Why is this beer unappealing to you? Personal preference...or is there something that seems like a big mistake in the beer? It was a gold medal winner that year.

    Advice for Wine in Beer

Unfortunately, no details in the text. I was thinking it would be something like one of these: http://www.northernbrewer.com/shop/winemaking/wine-ingredients/grape-concentrate I have zero experience with grape juice. I do enjoy the Dogfish Head Midas Touch...which I think has a similar...

    Advice for Wine in Beer

I found the recipe below in the Sept/Oct 2010 issue of Zymurgy. Credit goes to Jane Zelewski. It was a gold medal winner that year in the Specialty Beer category. 10.0 lbs two-row pale malt 1.5 lb light dry malt extract 0.65 oz Williamette (60 mins) 0.65 oz Williamette (15 mins) 1 tsp...

Do I need a wort chiller for a 4 gallon batch size?

I think the ice water bath is the most inexpensive and simplest cooling method...however, it will also take the longest. The immersion chiller is probably your second cheapest method. The faster you want to cool your wort, generally the more expensive it will be. You should be able to get...

    Brett Advice for Secondary

I bought my WY 3726 on Northern Brewer a month ago...it's out of stock now. I'm guessing it'll be hard to get now since it's part of their Private Collection series. Thanks for the suggestion on saving the yeast cake...I've never tried that before...but this might be the one to go for it on...

    fermenting temps, too low?

Without knowing the exact yeast strain, it's hard to know for sure. My best guess would be that that 60-62 is very much on the low side of what is viable for an ale yeast suitable for that style of beer. If it were my beer, I would try to get it back up around 66-68. That being said, I've...

    Brett Advice for Secondary

I'm brewing a Strawberry Brett Saison. It's currently fermenting with Wyeast Farmhouse Ale 3726 PC. The recipe calls for me to rack it onto 5lbs of strawberries and pitch the Brett in a little over two weeks. I originally bought Brett Trois, but then read that Brett Drie might be a better...

ABV Calculation which racking onto fruit and pitching Brett

I did some digging on the interwebs and found this handy article: http://www.themadfermentationist.com/2010/10/adding-fruit-to-beer-increases-alcohol.html I hope this is useful to someone else looking for a solution to this issue!

BIAB/Full Volume Mash and wort fermentablity

Not 100% sure this is relevant to your scenario, but I have noticed that it seems like when I have a large grain bill and there isn't much room in my 10gal pot for space between my grain in the mash water, that my efficiency can drop significantly. I've wanted to test my theory out by using a...

ABV Calculation which racking onto fruit and pitching Brett

I just brewed a saison this weekend. It's fermenting with Wyeast 3726 Farmhouse Ale Yeast now. I'm planning to rack it onto frozen strawberries after primary is finished and pitch the White Labs Brett Trois. How do I calculate the ABV for the final product? I know this is tricky because...

How to hold return hose when Recirculating Wort through plate chiller

Thanks! I think I have a plan now! My pump was delayed due to another item I ordered not being in stock...but should be here this week. I went ahead and ordered my hoses and the hardware for the camlocks...hoping to be brewing with a pump next weekend!

How to hold return hose when Recirculating Wort through plate chiller

I just bought a pump....should be here in a few days. I've been using gravity to push my wort through the plate chiller...I never can get my temperature quite low enough though with a single pass. My plan is to use the pump to recirculate the wort back onto itself in the kettle after passing...

Bottling from keg - tried it and need help

McKnuckle - Were you able to find the culprit in your system. I am new to bottling out of the keg...just started this week. Trying a setup that sounds very similar to yours. Losing lots of beer. I love to hear what you found...if you've worked out your issue yet.
