    What are you drinking now?

Drinking Troeg's Perpetual IPA...the only clone I have found claims it has citra in its dryhop. I can't detect that at all. Any thoughts?

    Can i use this carboy

That's all on the outside? If so, go for it.

Brew Day #1 - IN THE BOOKS!

Your questions have been well answered by the other posters (hooray for comradery), but welcome to the community. This will become your favorite, most rewarding hobby. The community (particularly here and often seen at local home brew shops (LHBS) ) is astounding and always ready to help...

New England June 2015 Grain Buy

Sweet, was just thinking last night I haven't pissed my wife off in a while. This'll do. Thanks Donovan for starting yet another buy.

Double IPA Lawson's Finest Sip of Sunshine Clone

Just to post back results... I dryhopped in primary, starting on day 10 with half and the other half on day 14. Cold crashed to 34F for two days. Kegged today and did burst carb because I'm impatient. Phenomenal. Mosaic isn't quite citra but it is better for my tastes, lending a bit sharper...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Sorry for not specifying, I mean 'did you stir before taking a temperature reading?' If you end up with foam in your graduated cylinder while taking a gravity reading, blow out the foam with your mouth. You should be able to get a decent amount of it out. Before you take your reading, spin...

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

You should be fine with that range, it may knock a few points down for your OG but that isn't necessarily a bad thing either. Do you stir before taking a reading?

Double IPA Lawson's Finest Sip of Sunshine Clone

Brewed this on 5/26. I subbed German pilsner for the base malt and carafoam for the carapils (I had carafoam on hand). I also had a pound of Mosaic in the freezer, so I subbed Moasaic for all the citra. My efficiency was higher than expected, so I also dropped the corn sugar. Sounds like I...

Legal Questions: home brew beer dinner at a restaurant

Call the ABC and ask? Mass sucks for liquor laws, absolutely terrible. I'd assume you'd need a particular license to sell or maintain a brewpub, but for free? Not sure...

How often do you guys brew?

I go on brewing sprees. I brewed 20 gallons last month (4 seperate batches) and now have a DIPA and a hefe on tap, an RIS aging, and I gave a batch of Irish Red to my father in law. I probably won't brew for another couple months, so perhaps once a month on average. Brew til you drop! :rockin:

    Open carboy need suggestions

Not sure if this is your type of beer, but I randomly stumbled upon it and am very, very interested in brewing this next and aging for a little bit (or until I finish whatever kegs I currently have in my lineup). https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=318340 I mean, c'mon. The flavors...

    Kegerator Problem

This wouldn't be a dryhopped beer by chance, would it? Have you checked your diptube/poppet? Some gunk could cause some intermittent and confusing foaming, it's happened to me before.

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

It will definitely help. I'm not trying to dissuade you, I'm just not sure if you would actually get the flavor I think you desire. The compound responsible for the banana flavor from the yeasts is isoamyl acetate, and I don't think it is even found in bananas naturally. If you have the means...

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

I'm not sure if you would get the same flavor. Perhaps just underpitch the yeast and wrap the fermentor in a towel. The stress and increased temp should coerce more esters from the yeast.

    Secondary temperature

Hey wine forum, Picking up a few pails of juice at the end of April. I'm going to ferment in my chest freezer at 80F but wasn't quite sure what temperature I should maintain for my secondaries and further rackings. Haven't seen much info on this other than to avoid fluctuating temperatures...

    Sparging too fast?

I didn't see anyone mention it (maybe I didn't look hard enough) but have you tried the "hybrid" fly-sparge? https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=75454 I add more sparge water at a time than illustrated here. I add enough to cover the top of the grain bed, and then perhaps a half...

What have you quit doing ------ because it doesn't seem to be adding anything

I appreciate this post a lot. I use a corona mill, a 10 gallon cooler, and a propane burner. Yes I may make a keggle and I'm just getting a new chest freezer to ferment in, but man, I feel making something so damn delicious from the low-end equipment just tastes so much better. Plus, more money...
