    So who's brewing this weekend?

Steeping some CaraMunich for my Yellow Jacket Pale Ale as we speak. The smell is intoxicating. Also having a little trouble keeping my nose out of the Cascade I'm going to put in. Love that smell.

Wyeast 3724 Belgian Saison - they were right!

I'm getting pretty excited about this one. I just took a gravity reading and it's down to 1.024 after only a week, so hopefully I've avoided the 1.030 sticking point. It's still bubbling steadily at 4 burps/min. I've been able to keep the temp between 85 and 90 the whole time, so I think that...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

If I can pick up the ingredients and get a starter going tomorrow, I'll be brewing my Yellow Jacket APA on Sunday.

    What are you drinking now?

Weihenstephaner Hefe followed by a Nitwit homebrew. Can't decide which I like better.

    What are you drinking now?

Slummin it with some PBR and pizza. For some reason I've never tried it before, but I really like it for a macro.

    You know your girlfriend/wife is a keeper when . . .

I've only been able to do partial boils on the stove so I've been looking at turkey fryers. I thought I'd test the waters, so I asked my wife "If we had a turkey fryer, what kind of stuff could we cook with it?" First thing she said was full wort boils. Definitely a keeper. She has great...

Wyeast 3724 Belgian Saison - they were right!

I just started a batch using 3724 this past weekend. The plan was to ferment out in my tool shed. I figured that with summer temps in GA it would be the perfect place. Unfortunately, we seem to be having a "cold" snap with highs in the low 80's so the shed is about the same temp as my house...

Out on the beach sipping a Dales Pale Ale

What I did for beer today

I'm brewing a batch of hefeweizen (well I will be when the water comes up to temp).

    What are you drinking now?

Victory Hop Devil. Much more balanced and drinkable than I was expecting. I figured it would be a bitter hop bomb, but it's very smooth with great hop flavor. Love the color on it. Deep orange and crystal clear.

If you're stopping by brewmasters, check out Harry's Whole foods at the corner of powers ferry and roswell rd. Huge beer selection and decent prices.

    Georgia roll call

I'm in Marietta, but work in Canton. Good to see so many brewers in the area.

Show off your 2012 Hops garden!

Just snapped some pics of my first year hops. Willamette: Cascade: I'm having a time keeping the bugs off and the squirrels out of the beds, but they're still alive. The Willamette even looks halfway decent. I'm not expecting any yield this first year, so I'll just be...

Soaking cocoa nibs and vanilla beans in vodka

I'm happy with the one bean, but you might want 2. I'm pretty much using the vanilla to accentuate the chocolate. 2 beans would stand out better. I just split it down the middle, scraped out the seeds and cut the bean in 2" pieces.

    What are you drinking now?

    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Soaking cocoa nibs and vanilla beans in vodka

Update: After confirming that the porter had reached FG (it's been 1.016 for 3 days) I decided to add the nibs and vanilla that had been soaking in vodka for the last 3 days. The smell was amazing, and the sample I took was fan-friggin-tastic even without the flavoring. I'm planning on...
