Mixed results on my last two beers

Come on man! (If you need the Football Reference, I'll give it to you.) I'm not going to diss you publicly on the boards because I drink my fair share of Natty Ice when I need to, but I'm not calling it a "decent" example of a beer style. Go out and drink a Pilsner Urquell if you need a mass...

    Secondaries

You wouldn't know if fermentation is finished...You could generalize it, which is what many people will claim to have "fool proof methods," but you should only use them as guidelines. Your hydrometer will tell the true story. Experience will let you make shortcuts.

    Use Brewpot as Fermentation Cooler?

Phunhog is right on! That's what I did for years! I used to freeze plastic water bottles to chill it (I didn't have a cold problem). I had a cycle of bottles, big and small depending on what I needed to do to the temp.

Let the mistakes come, everyone makes them. Just accept that they happen and move on ;)

    What next? First AG/next brew

I'd do the same beer. This allows you to help take the recipe out of your process...Get this one dialed in, dial in your process, and then adjust from there! But brew whatever beer you want to drink! :mug: Wally

Cool! Keep asking questions, even if it seems silly, and take the advice for what it is.

    Bottle Conditioning and Aging Question

I look at it the same way I look at a piece of meat. If I buy 2 steaks from the grocery store, and leave one out on the counter, and but one in the fridge, the one on the counter rots before the second one. The fridge slows down the decomp process. But if you put a .22 in a cow and cut out...

    Question about re-pitching washed yeast.

Hey, What I do before I pitch washed yeast is build a starter. It helps wake the yeasties up and give them a little bump to get them hungry again. But I'm sure your yeasties will get going and start fermenting soon. Wally

    Cherry wheat question

Nope, these are basic brewing skills that even if you don't understand, you should still practice. Using a hydrometer is something that you should do regularly. The sooner you are familiar with it, the faster you will progress. We can walk you through the "complex" calculations with it. We...

    2nd ferment

0! Bubbles do not indicate fermentation!!! Only use a hydrometer! If your beer was not done fermenting (through measure of a hydrometer), you shouldn't have moved it to the secondary. Give us some details, OG, FG (before moving to secondary), SG now, and we'll try to walk you through it.

Thanks Yoop. Been interesting for me. I don't want to hijack this thread, but I'll catch you up ;)

    Cherry wheat question

Yup, sounds good to me. I think even if you mixed your cherry juice and corn sugar together then added everything to the bucket (and gently stirred), you'd still be OK! The only thing that I would have a concern about is the sugar content of the cherry juice with making bottle bombs. But if...

    Cherry wheat question

There are some people that like to add it right away to make sure everything mixes better, some people like to add it at the end. I would maybe try a combination of the two to see what works for you? Personally, I think it's just a matter of opinion. I would also be open to the possibility of...
