Anyone in oneonta want to trade homebrews?

Just moved to the area. I have been brewing for a year or so. I have a knack for belgians so I am very happy to live near Ommegang. But I have a question. where do you guys get your supplies? My wife is from the area but I have only spent holidays up here. I am also up for a homebrew club if...

Sorry I wrote that from a new phone. Still getting used to a touch screen. Mash temp was 149.

    Hops Combo, citrus spice.

I have been doing some experimental beers recently. I just did a Marris Otter Tettnager smash will a low mash temp. turned out pretty well, crisp with a low biscuity flavor that doesn't over take the hops kick. I found I am not the biggest fan of tettanager by itself but that I might be able to...

    Homebrew Club Fayetteville, NC??

To my knowledge smash brewing is where you use one grain and one type of hops to make a beer. you keep it simple so you can gain knowledge of how each grain and hop affects the different attributes of the beer. I did one a while back with Saaz and with pale 6 row, pretty drinkable session beer.

    Homebrew Club Fayetteville, NC??

Maybe I caught one of their workers on a bad day but the treatment I got the few times I went in left a bad taste in my mouth. So I stick with Wilmington Home brew. Not to say the selection at American is bad, they have great ingredients I just had bad luck I guess.

You know you're a home brewer when?

This might be more of a new brewer one. When you create three new threads asking questions for your first all grain, not realizing most veteran brewers have answered this question on about a dozen other threads. It took me about 2 months to discover there is a search button here, so I know I am...

    My first bad batch.

I did a 90 min rest for the mash and a 90 min boil. My OG was a bit low but I think it is going to turn out ok. As for my fist offering to my parents they have tried 3 or 4 of my batches and have been bugging me to try a christmas ale clone since i started brewing. Thanks for the advice I will...

    My first bad batch.

Ok, what would be a good way to practice? I can fill up a bath tub and throw in some frozen 2 liters? I have never tried that so i dont know how cold the water would get. would the heat of the fermentation keep the temp in the right range?

    My first bad batch.

I like step three. I also did something similar to what Tre9er said as a partial mash and it turned out fine. I guess I got overconfident in my skills and over stepped a bit. The golden recipe is not complicated it is one malt one hop, 8 lbs pilsner and 1 oz Saaz. I will be using wlp570 as my...

    My first bad batch.

Well from what I have been reading a true homebrewer must have a bad batch almost as a rite of passage. Well I believe my first all grain attempt was a bad batch record. I may have screwed up in almost all the categories known to homebrewing. my OG was so off that my finished product was so...

    Homebrew Club Fayetteville, NC??

I live over in Hope Mills, Grapes and Hops is a great place if you plan in advance or need some of the basic equipment needed to get started. The staff was helpful and the beer selection is great if you want to try a new style. I, however would not recommend it if you need an ingredient as the...

    Incomplete Ingredients

I know this thread died but I thought I would say that i gave some of this to my father in law's wife and she loved it. Hadnt had a beer since going gluten free a year or so ago. She missed a good beer the most when she had to switch. it inspired her to try some other gluten free beers. So...

    Pouring onto a Yeast cake

I have read that a good way to make a barleywine is to pour your barleywine wort right onto a yeast cake from a just racked IPA. No real question here, I just want to know your opinions on this specifically and the concept in general. So have at it, what do ya'll think?
