    Make IPA Clear Again

So now which would you prefer to drink at the bar? An Orange Juice NEIPA or a High Gravity Glitter Beer?

Shed some wisdom on my shed

I know a fair amount about make-up air because I recently redid our kitchen and we put in a huge hood. The entire reason for it is so that you don't create a 'negative pressure' situation which can be dangerous because it can create almost like a backdraft scenario where you are sucking CO and...

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

It's clearly jealousy. They have their own site, their own experiments, their own podcast where they often host moguls in the brewing community (e.g. the Yakima hop dudes, the founder of Russian River, BJCP judges etc). Petty people need to knock others down to feel better about themselves. Its...

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

So do you know this man personally and that's why you insult him? I seriously doubt it. Sounds like you're passing judgment on someone you've never met because he's disproven some of your nonsense brewing myths and you're butthurt and/or jealous over it. If you bothered to read some of the...

    Make IPA Clear Again

So you do it while still in the fermentor after you've cold crashed? What if you've dry hopped, doesn't pouring gelatin over top of it just stick in the hops instead of clarifying the beer?

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

Same here, people get so bent out of shape when you tell them this or that technique is pointless. Me? I'm excited when I realize I can knock 30 mins off my boil day by eliminating some extra step that adds nothing of value. Obviously there are lots of things you cannot cut corners on or it...

    Make IPA Clear Again

Fun story Nagorg, I went to a nearby brewpub yesterday to get some grub and have a few beers. I ordered two IPAs, an NEIPA and a West Coast one. The latter was MUCH better, a little darker than you commonly see with a tad more malt but lots of bitter punch and while not lager-clear it was see...

    Make IPA Clear Again

I literally wrote "I'm told" at the end...you even quoted it...but nice try Why do you guys all assume you're so much oler and wiser than anyone who drinks NEIPAs? I'm a lot closer to your age than I am the kids in 'Hipsterland' that you seem to be imagining...Also, like it or not those hipster...

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

Wow talk about putting words in my mouth. You could not have gotten more wrong if you tried. What I am ACTUALLY saying is that there is a ton of made up BS on these forums and others that are simply untrue yet are repeated ad nauseum by the masses...and if asked them to prove how they know that...

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

That's perhaps the dumbest thing I've yet read on these forums. You don't have to know the scientific principles of how something works to conduct an experiment, that's the very foundation of science and the scientific method and how the field of science was founded...the unknown and how to...

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

Oh please, do tell oh wise man...what is it about his work that is unscientific? Small sample size? The point you are supposed to take away from most of his work is not that technique abc is useless, he never says anything like that...rather that technique abc is nowhere near as big a deal as...

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

Acquired wisdom huh? :D "The earth is flat and the sun rotates around us" "You better put a hat on before you go out, you'll catch a cold...and always wait an hour after eating to go swimming" "Vaccines cause autism...oh and stress causes ulcers...so does spicy food" "Sugar makes kids...

    Make IPA Clear Again

Also the whole "I liked IPAs before they were cool" tact is suspicious don't you think? Deeply closeted hipster perhaps?

How many of you have rapid fermentations?

That's a fair point, maybe the cumulative differences, even if minute might add up to something tangible? But honestly? I doubt it. I think it's more that anytime you get people who get passionate about something they grow increasingly less satisfied with doing simple things well and they can...

NEIPA (IPA) Advanced Techniques, Processes, Concepts, and General Thoughts

I haven't messed with water chemistry yet since I'm blessed with well water that seems to work really well for several styles that I like but I'm sure even with good water it plays a role. For example, one of the reasons that NY pizza is so awesome and unique, that perfect crispy, foldable...

    Missed recipe = super beer!

Yeah that's my experience as well and it's just pretentious IMO...I mean wtf do they think wort is? It's sugar water, that's what yeast eats. And if your style calls for that crisp/clean finish then by all means!

    Hop selection for Saison

I wound up going Sterling @ 60 Saaz + Lemondrop @ 15 Lemondrop -whirpool I'm trying to capture sort of a lemon pepper kinda vibe, but with a Saison you wanna let the yeast shine so I stayed restrained on the hops... we'll see if it works out
