    Keg Line Length Question

I inserted 2 plastic spirals into my dip tube on my kegs and this worked unbelievably. I would maybe try 3 in your case and go with a 3-5 foot line. I used two in a raspberry fruit ale, I was aiming for 2.1 volumes I have a 60" line @ 12.5 PSI. It pours slowly but the Co2 is spot on. See this...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

They make in-line fuses at radio shack. You just put it inline in-between the wall the stc-1000. And the point I was making is 16/3 is rated at 13 amps. My keezer is 5 amps at startup and 1.5 while running. Which is well within spec for the cable. So check your freezer and determine the...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Ahh this one is a little different then the one I got first. OK well I back to the work bench to try it out. Well No dice. I still get no power. I thought I checked with my multimeter at the loading terminals. I guess this unit was defective. The worst part is I can hear the relay kick on and...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Alas, I am trying to wire up one for a friend and I'm having some problems. I can't get the switched outlet to work. I waited for the delay and I can hear the relay kick on but I get no voltage when I test at the back of the controller. Here is my wiring diagram. Also I have no idea what the...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

Ok but recommended by who? The 16/3 wire I have is rated at 13 amps. Whats the max amps the freezer pulls 6? and 1.5 when its running. Plus that is rated at 25' not the 10' you will probably cut it at. What I am saying is 16 ga wire is within specs to run the equipment there is no need to waste...

    ebay aquarium temp controller build

I just don't understand the mindset of completly overbuilding something. I am using 16GA wire with no problems. The Extension cord a salvaged the wire from is rated @ 13 amps ..and thats at 25'. I mean the minimum safety reqs are there for a reason. You don't think they pad the number a little...

    Pick up tube for Keggle

Aye I had some green flame. I also was heating the pipe. I now understand I should have applied heat to the fitting.

    Pick up tube for Keggle

I use a keggle. I also have a 1/2 ball valve and a weldless bulkhead for a spigot. I have that attached to a bazooka screen which gets clogged up with pellet hops. I am just tired of tilting the keg to run through my CF chiller. So instead of paying 23 for a stainless steel pickup tube. I...

    Kegging without a CO2 tank?

I know the general consensus is that a few weeks on the yeast cake is beneficial to the beer. For me it wiped out all the adjunct flavors. Since your're probably not using any I would leave it in the primary, cool as possible.

Batch Sparge: Rest or No Rest?

The only thing I would add to his steps are to add hot water to the cooler. This heats up the insulation and allows for very little temp loss during mashing. And the other would be to double check your valves are closed on your mash laughter tun before adding strike water. ( ask me how I know)...

    Fermentation temps

Ok I managed to take a sample 1.022. I should have just taken a hydrometer reading. I managed to hit the attenuation window in just 3 days. 1.022 is the adjusted number after I added sugars to boost the ABV the original FG was 1.016 but ibrewpal shows with an accurate grain bill 1.022 is the...

    Fermentation temps

Ok how do you account for the sediment and co2 in the wort? Or is the only way to use a refractometer to get a brix measurement? I want I know if I could have cold shock killed the yeast. I dropped 15 degrees from 78 pretty quick. I've just never heard of that before. Before the ice bath I had...

Tap water vs boiled vs bottled?

I love Portland water. I never boiled or bothered with doing anything to it. Portland water is so pure it's not filtered it comes from the bull run water shed. I would just watch out for when they draw from the underground tanks it is a little 'hard' when they use that source usually times of...

    Fermentation temps

I am using a recipe for Chocolate Orange Holiday ale from Austin home brewing. I have a very slow or maybe stuck fermentation. It uses WL011 European ale yeast. I have had some issues with this batch. First off I used 6th month old yeast. The best by date was December on my vial. White labs...

HELP! I think I fubared my brew

Well I didn't have a way to check the pre boil SG. I just added more strike water till it looked right. I then did my second sparge. I hit about 6.5 gallons mas or menos. I added a 14 oz mix of maltose and dextrose (the brewvint alcohol boost). I boiled down till 5 gals. The wort chiller is...
