Android apps vs Promash or Beersmith

I have Beer smith on my laptop and beer smith light on my android tab. Love both apps. I like being able to save recepies on the cloud area and being able to retrieve them on the tablet. Beer smith light is a nice app. Well worth the few bucks. The only limitation is that you cannot actually...

    Yeast Recovery

SS self neutralizes as the small amount of SS is diluted by the large volume of beer.

    Raisins for carbonation?

What if a raisin got stuck in your keg pick up tube?! Plugged! Either way, I am so trying this. Maybe I will drop the raisins in some SS for a minute. I have a pale ale ready to keg this weekend. I will fill a few 20 oz bottles.. Maybe 4 raisins?

brewing vs. happy wife - kitchen shared

+1 on the high output burner in the garage. It heats the garage while brewing. Boils lots of water very quickly. Most important tip---> SHARE the beer with your wife. ;)

Can I squeeze my dry hops?

If you squeeze the hops more than 3 times, you're playing with them. :)

    Fermenting too hot

I had one do that when I was first starting out. The result was fruit gum tasting beer. I have to set my fermenter chamber to 55 deg f while the beer is at full pop to keep it at 65.

    Cross-State Infection

You may have just brewed the best beer ever made in the history of mankind. What if the wild yeast is "totally awesome" wild yeast? haha. Never know. If the gravity is dropping like the post above says, I would sample that. Is there any possibility that there was some left over yeast in that...

    Yeast Recovery

Pretty sure the SS has killed the yeast, or at least most of it. One of the main purposes of using sanitizer is to kill any wild yeast from getting into your brew.

    Beer clairty and yeast presence!!

Maybe try the white labs WLP_001. I just tried some for the first time in a pale ale. I. Can't fully state my findings yet because its on week 2 in the primary. But it looks pretty damn clear as of now... I use Irish moss in every beer. Its cheap and is supposed to help.

    Help with volume/gravity problem

I was actually thinking about starting a thread about a part of this topic. I say don't add water now. IMO the beer/yeast are progressing already in the current chemistry and dilluting right now might cause an problem. The other topic..... Who in here actually only gets 1 gallon of evap per boil...

    Input appreciated

Hi, I am not familiar with Mr beer kits but..... One time I had a really fruity beer. My fermentation temps got pretty high. If you allowed the fermenter to get too hot you will get fruity beer. What was your final gravity?

    Bottles not Carbing

Today I went through and checked on the bottles. After re-tightening them a couple weeks ago most of them are getting pretty hard. I may have only lost 5~8 beers. Might be they all carb up eventually. Temp also may have been an issue as well. It is now getting pretty hot outside and the temp in...

    Bottles not Carbing

If you have not already, go through and re-tighten all of your bottles. My first batch of coopers was not carbing. A few of them were rock hard and carbed well in 2 weeks. The others I tightened up a bit and are now slowly carbing. My bottles were a little wet when I was filling and they were...
