    Looking for a celebration beer

Congrats! You could do a Düsseldorf Alt. It has enough maltiness to be interesting (more interesting than a Kölsch imho) while not so bitter as to put off people that like commercial lagers. And it's top fermenting. A recipe of mine (ignore the Dutch gibberish in Taste Notes)...

Lost Everything ...... Hard drive, not the beer!

Yes you can plug your drives into it, the raspberry pi has some USB transfer speed limitations because of its architecture though so transferring large files wouldn't go as fast as from your desktop to the drive. This is no problem for backing up documents etc.

Lost Everything ...... Hard drive, not the beer!

If you like the way cloud storage works but are wary of big corp you can also use software called Owncloud which is not that hard to set up, see http://www.instructables.com/id/Raspberry-Pi-Owncloud-dropbox-clone/

    Don't Do That.

Forget that a whirlpool arm, although its camlock is above the level of the wort, will make boiling wort siphon out of the kettle when you disconnect your pump. Don't do that. Do: wear long gloves when doing stuff with a hot kettle.

    Intertap beer faucets

I recently bought the SS one without fc (the SS-8022), when I took it apart I saw that there was only one nylon seating for the pivot ball, it went on top of the ball with only a rubber o-ring on the bottom. Is this as it should be? I see the replacement kit contains 2 nylon seating rings. I...

Why did your brew day get canceled?

Ordering stuff on Wednesday, pay for next day delivery, plan to brew Friday. Order being delivered a good 2 weeks after that, we're very sorry. When my daughter was born I also discovered that a dad's free time comes in 2 hours increments for the first 2 years or so.

    South suomi finland brewers guild

fwiw, there is a large Belgian retailer that does international shipping. Finland being in the EU (free movement of goods) you won't have a customs surcharge. See https://www.brouwland.com/en.

Can I use part of yeast package?

The issue isn't so much the survival of the yeast cells, it's the chance of it being contaminated. The buck saved isn't worth the chance of infection of the batch you use the leftover yeast on. I usually just overpitch or throw away leftover yeast.

    Gozdawa yeast?

I read that someone on a German homebrew forum did an Alt with the yeast I mentioned and said it was a very good yeast for the style. Straight from the German horse's mouth!

    Element enclosure leaking

Put loads of teflontape on the threads towards the end (nut side) of the element where it touches the enclosure to create a seal. I had the same issue with the Brewpi enclosure (this one). Worked for me.

    Gozdawa yeast?

I did an Alt a while ago with 'Old German Altbier 9' by them, turned out nice enough. It's actually a Polish brand, see http://www.gozdawa.org/en-index.php I hear people see higher FGs with this brand compared to other brands.

Mill Gap for BIAB (Efficiency Problems)

Also be sure to break up any dough balls that might have formed. Stirring helps but I find I need to hunt the ones that sink to the bottom down and break them up with a mash paddle.
