Look into making a vitality starter. I did a batch with Mangrove Jack's M44, which people on here find a slow starter, last week which, using this method, took off in 10 hours. The batch before that where I didn't use this method was the exact same recipe with the same yeast which took 48hrs to...
Can someone tell me the viability of CBP as a replacement for Brewpi for fermentation control only? Brewpi can't handle my setup (heater + fridge), it doesn't get the overshoot for the heater correct which causes endless heating and subsequent cooling cycles which uses a lot of energy. I wonder...
A few guys from NL have bought it, there's some discussion on our Dutch homebrew forums. They have had a few problems with incomplete deliveries (they forgot the chiller) and cheap construction/faulty units. They say (online) costumer service is excellent.
After taking it apart I'd rinse it to get most of the goop out, give it a good scrub with a toilet brush and then fill it with very hot PBW, throw in the lid and leave it overnight. Get rid of all rubber parts. Soak the fittings and carb stone in PWB after scrubbing them if needed with a...
Well, there 's the new Brewpi Spark available from https://store.brewpi.com, you'd need to buy some sensors etc next to that. Not cheap though. You can always shoot the owner, Elco Jacobs, an email for advice, he is a very helpful guy.
Yeah that's how I do it.
A nice add-on would be to construct a bypass around the flow constrictor, this makes flushing the filter housing much easier. Extra tubing, splitters and valves can be purchased for next to nothing on eBay.

I have a 3 stage like your first limk, works fine. Be sure to periodically flush the filter housing when not in use for longer than a week or 2 or else it might start to smell funny. Also be sure to start your water collection on time, having to wait 4 hours for your kettle to fill up sucks ;)
Thanks, will remember that. One of the many 'challenges' will also be to drive an automatic, have never driven anything but a stick shift all my life!
I checked out the Park Ave neighbourhood in Rochester, looks nice and lots of holiday rental options (Airbnb etc). Nice tip!
As I said we will be doing a bit of driving, any tips for ignorant Europeans? I read about not being allowed to pass or overtake a stopped schoolbus with its warning lights on, are there any other good-to-knows?
Another thing is the police, on travel websites here they always describe US...
Sounds great! Are there any non-brewing related must sees in the area? The Strong looks very cool! My daughter will be 3 years old this fall so loads to see there for her. I might go to the naval museum in Buffalo but the mrs will probably want to skip that one.
Awesome thanks! I just realised we will be having our kid with us when we visit breweries/tap rooms, what does NY state law say about that?
Yeah entering the USA over land on a non-Canadian passport is going to require a bit of research beforehand :)
We will be visiting relatives in Ontario this coming fall and we were thinking of paying a short (2 or 3 day) visit to the USA as we have never been there. We will def. be visiting Niagara Falls so we might ingress from there. Anyone have any tips? We don't have to have an action packed stay nor...
