    Grainfather!!

Power was good, it ended up very simple, as usual. The top plate had fallen down well below where I originally placed it, I couldn't see this due to the cloudiness of the water, after I realized and pushed the plate down, all was good with the pump. Lots of grain bits though in the boil now...

    Grainfather!!

Second attempt here is not going well. The pump starts. But as soon as the overflow pipe starts, the pump dies. I guess I’m going old school on the mash today.

Grainfather - How far can I pump my wort post-chiller

Pretty simple as you can see. There is also the c14 converter so the pump is still controlled from the box. A little crude now. But it works. Let me get a shot of the full setup next.

    Grainfather!!

I've been busy outside of the brewery so I haven't been down there, but here are some pics of the pump upgrade. Here you can see the riptide pump plugged into a c14 converter so I can still use the grainfather control switch for the pump IMG_0628 by boasist posted Feb 24, 2018 at 5:35 PM Just a...

Grainfather - How far can I pump my wort post-chiller

Sure can. I just upgraded to cam lock connections, I'll be installing those this week and I'll get you some photos. Fairly simple though, I removed the stock pump from the stainless tubes, fitted the 5/16 tubing on to those tubes and secured with a worm clamp back to the pump. I could have...

    Grainfather!!

I made some upgrades to my Grainfather this weekend. Swapped out the pump for a riptide, and extended all of the tubing. This allows me to keep the chiller at its mounting point and still utilize it fully for the brew. I really don't even have a need for the lid anymore. I look forward to my...

    First Mead, reporting in

Hello everyone, So on New Years I had mead for the first time. It was Viking Blod and I really enjoyed it. Flash forward to today and I have it in the secondary now! This is my first mead, and here is the breakdown. I boiled 4 gals of water and added raisins and hops to that water, at...

Grainfather - How far can I pump my wort post-chiller

I just replaced the tubing on my Grainfather CFC with some of the 5/16 silicon tubing and a blichman riptide pump. I now can whirlpool, add hops or what now, and rack to my chronicals without issue. The extra power does well.

Pennsylvania Entire Brewery: Grainfather, Kegging Setup, Fermenters, Yeast Handling, etc..

Congrats on the sale. The mod you made inspired me. Did you use the official 5/16 | 9/16 tubing or were you able to get away with 3/8 without issue? Thank you.

You got it on the photos. It's all fairly standard SS stuff, but I'll get them for you all.

    Yeast Nutrient

I’m doing my first mead this weekend. I was going to use the white labs nutrient. Is that stuff any good or should I go for another variety?

    SS Brewtech fermenter owners

I'm not sure of the volume. But the markings start at 4gal and that is just below the chill tubing. I bought hardened TC gaskets and that allows me to rotate the racking valve. So I keep it down when fermenting/aging and then rotate it up when ready to rack. I've never had an issue with...

eBay bucks coming, what to go for?

Ebay bucks is basically an eBay gift card, issued quarterly, for money spent on eBay. I ended up going with an RO system and the tilt, pretty pumped. The RO system arrives tomorrow and I have the first brew ready to go as well. Here is the unit
