NEIPA...need help picking a yeast strain

I just made a NEIPA with Inland Island inis-008 east coast IPA yeast and it is fantastic. Of the choices you listed I would go with Vermont Ale first and Wyeast 1318 second. I've never used the Burlington yeast so I have no opinion there.

    Brewing a Belgian Quad

I've brewed this and it is very close and also really, really good. http://www.candisyrup.com/uploads/6/0/3/5/6035776/chimay_grande_reserve_-_041.pdf

    My NEIPA is too dry

A little dextrin malt would help.

whats your mash temp for NE IPA?

I'm brewing one right now and mashing at 149. That's what Neil Fisher at Weldwerks recommended.

    SS Chugger Pump borken

It is probably sticky wort in impeller. Try flushing with hot PBW and Starsan but if that doesn't work then you'll need to take it apart.

    2016 Sam Adams LongShot

It arrived on time. It says they received it on the website but nothing else. I kind of forgot about it since I got a gold medal with that same beer at NHC last year.

You got feedback? I entered last year and never heard a word from them!

    SS Brewtech Brite Tanks

I like the carb stone; allows full carbonation within 12-24 hours without having to shake or pressurize to 30 PSI. Just set it to the desired PSI and done. The price is a bit steep but I might get a 1/2 barrel one when they come out.

Is "Ultra Barrier Silver Beer Hose" worth it?

I had a friend use this stuff and couldn't get a soapy flavor out of his beer! changed back to regular beer line and all is well.

    The 2016 NHC - Results/Speculation Thread

I'm sending mine tomorrow anyway. It does print up the labels and they don't want the recipe with the bottles anyway. Hopefully they'll get that fixed soon.

    The 2016 NHC - Results/Speculation Thread

Anybody having trouble entering their recipes on the website? I kept getting "parse syntax error" when I hit the submit button.

Going to Denver in July, suggestions for breweries?

I second Hogshead! One of my favorites. Don't forget Prost! Great german style lagers.

A pox on the NHC (National Competition Losers Thread)

I had a 45 last year at Big Beers Belgians and Barleywines and didn't make it to the mini BOS! There were 60 some odd beers in that category but still, I hope it was a steward that simply didn't mark it right.

    The 2016 NHC - Results/Speculation Thread

Last year's Tripel was the 4th time I brewed it (1st time with WLP500!) and I didn't even sample it before sending. I was working in Florida and my wife bottled it the night before the 1st round due date and drove it to the drop off location...it moved on to the final round and got a gold...

How much does Brulosopher affect your brewing?

Interesting that these guys could reliably pick the different sample when they knew the nature of the experiment but the Brewer, Greg, could not even though he could taste a definite difference in the candi syrups...

    Plate Chiller - BK Recirc

I whirlpool while I chill my 12-15 gallon batches with my B3 36A Duda and the only issue i have is the bottom of my kettle will be 80-100 degrees and the top will be around 160-170 from stratification. I also use a hop bag and a filter/strainer from Brewers Hardware.

How much does Brulosopher affect your brewing?

Well...it does, in fact, make a sound but if nobody is around to hear it... That's my point is that for most people it doesn't make any difference. I want to make the most extraordinary beer and have a few friends with excellent taste buds (better than mine) that have helped me hone in on...

How much does Brulosopher affect your brewing?

The fact that the average palate can't detect a difference in most triangle tests doesn't mean there aren't differences in the beers. It means the average person can't detect them. We have the same issue in the audiophile world where the average listener can't hear or distinguish a difference...

Belgian syrup verse making your own - an opinion

I have so much stuff to do on brew day that I leave the candi syrup making to the pros. I don't think my NHC gold medal winning Tripel would have been the same if I tried to create the Simplicity syrup myself and I know I couldn't do it twice! I'll always buy CSI's syrups and sugars for my...
