Threads you are tired of seeing

The search function works fine for me, as long as it says "Google Custom Search" in the box before I start typing. When I have problems it's because, for some reason, the search is not a Google Custom Search. I haven't figured out why this happens, but sometimes it just loads wrong for me...

"Let me be perfectly clear..." preceding some blatant obfuscation.

    How long before Kegging?

I'm with broadbill here. I'm an all-ale guy so far, mostly because of all the extra time and effort involved in lager. How do you keep an all lager pipeline going (yes, I realize that you don't have to chose one or the other)? I drink about a 5 gal keg per week so I brew a batch just about...

Reminds me of the scholarly gentlemen who used to ask me for a "solid quarter".

Threads you are tired of seeing

I'm sick and tired of reading all these threads about beer. I mean, seriously...don't you people have anything better to talk about? Wait. Where am I? Who are you people?

My first infection. Can this be salvaged?

Then drink and enjoy. Heck, maybe even give it a week or two in the keg for giggles and see how the flavor changes. If it's really awesome, you might harvest the bugs for your next batch of ill-beer.

    DIY Hop Flower Boutonnieres?

I don't know, but I think I'd be concerned about getting lupulin all over my nice clothes. If that's not a problem, you can probably just tie them up with floral wire

    It's safe. How's it taste?

    hops seeds

People generally buy rhizomes, rather than seeds. That's the only way to get a known variety in this cross-pollinated species. Besides, from seed you'd get 1/2 males (no cones). You want at least one good bittering hop and one good flavoring/aroma hop. If it was me, I'd buy Magnum, Centennial...

    I fail so hard

Good idea, hate to waste anything. FYI, though - talk of distillation is verboten on HBT.

    I fail so hard

For future reference, you can make mead without directly heating the honey. There are different methods, but I usually just boil the desired volume of water and add it to a sanitized bucket containing the pre-measured amount of (room temp) honey for the batch. Then I simply stir with a sanitized...

    Buying gear second hand?

I won't promise that it will fit, but mine does fit (HD lid + MW 6.5gal bucket). I feel your pain. My LHBS is 1.5 hours away. As a result, I just order from MW. Don't know if any are better than others. I just know that without a gasket, they are likely to leak - plastic on plastic doesn't...

    Carbonating

First, I purge the keg with CO2 by pressurizing it and then bleeding the pressure release valve. I do this once, then repressurize, wait a few minutes and bleed it again. This removes the oxygen from the keg. Then, if I want to burst carb, I'll charge it to 30psi. Agitate for a few minutes...

    Buying gear second hand?

I was able to get one of my home depot lids to fit on my 6.5 gal fermenter. It was a tight fit, but it sealed, unlike the lid I got from MW Supplies. Problem solved. If there's a bakery around your area, try them for buckets. They usually buy honey, malt, icing, etc. in big, high quality...

    Buying gear second hand?

Yeah, my bad, Walmart has the turkey fryer on for $49 on the internet. It's $40 at our local store, though. Garden section by the grills. 21 qts is going to be problematic. You won't be able to boil full 5 gal batches (you lose ~1 gal in a 1 hr boil). You'll have to top them off. Not a huge...
