    Words and phrases I hate

"Unprecedented." In 2013 AD, how many occurrences are actually novel and worthy of this overused description?

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

That's some ugly junk. Mine never required washers, though I know that some do. Tightened to where I cringe a bit, it gives me completely crushed grains, decently intact husks and a fair amount of flour. Grain conditioning is very helpful in this. I had to cut the head off a bolt and used a...

First ever attempt at brisket. Epic fail.

Sorry about your day. Everything about your triage sounds good. I'm not sure about the reheat temp, though. >200 internal sounds high to me. I'm no brisket expert, but that's pretty hot for meat. Best of luck with the meat, and the in-laws!

Tips on transfering honey from 5 gal bucket?

Definitely don't try to heat the bucket on the stove. There was a thread about that recently with sub-optimal results, to say the least. When making mead (~12-15 lbs. per 5 gal batch), I just use a couple of large ladles, one in each hand. I use the first to dip the honey and the second to...

    Beer Hose Length

If you want to get nice pours with no foam, consider these miracle cures - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/cure-your-short-hose-troubles-100151/ I've been using them, 1 in each keg's diptube, for a while now (~12 batches). I use ~5-6ft of beer line and pour at ~12-14psi. I use picnic taps...

    That is quite enticing.

    Additional information from Midwest Supplies

Thank you for providing this information. Promptness is always appreciated, but thoroughness is also virtuous. I will continue to support you with my purchases.

    Important Statement From Midwest Supplies

I think it's the "initial best effort" part that's the problem. It appears now that their security wasn't a "best effort". I defended them until the facts were in. I know how frequent CC fraud occurs. However, if they weren't doing their due diligence to maintain security in the face of the...

    Important Statement From Midwest Supplies

I apologize to all for disputing your assertions about MW's connection to your CC fraud. I still believe that it is most prudent to reserve judgement until proof is provided. As a loyal customer (and defender, until now) of theirs, I am unbelievably disappointed in them for their delay in...

    So heres a Question?

More info is necessary. How did you prime? If you added the beer to priming sugar in your bottling bucket, chances are that you didn't mix it thoroughly, resulting in some beers with more sugar than necessary, some with less, and some that are just right.

Threads you are tired of seeing

Congrats! I do try my best to answer any posts that I can to lighten the load on the eternal sages. So, I really don't mind it that much, I just like to bitch. Thank you all for enabling me in my brewcraft and my whinebitchiness.

My extract kit came in wrong.

I strongly second this. Brew away, with all the hops at your disposal. Let us all know how awesome it tastes when you return.

    Backsweeten/ bottling question

I'd think that it would be difficult to achieve a specific level of carbonation with juice concentrate that may vary in sugar concentration and profile (some sugars are more fermentable than others). If you're using the juice to carb, then the yeast will eat the sugars and you'll get no...

Threads you are tired of seeing

I'm torn. I very much agree with this. However, there are some topics ("I just dropped X into my kettle/fermenter...is it ruined?" and "I just pitched my yeast 2 hours ago and there's no airlock activity...is it ruined?" come to mind) that really shouldn't require daily (or even weekly) answers...

Threads you are ambivalent about seeing

Okay, another meh in progress... "The Dysfunctional-Palooza Obnoxious Masshole BS Thread" I'm sure it's all very interesting, but I can't be bothered. I'd much rather look at pictures of someone's "Post your infection". Those are almost always intriguing, unless someone's just worried about...

Threads you are ambivalent about seeing

I agree. Meh. I'd have to actually make the recipe to make a fair critique of it. My repertoire is fairly narrow - I have a few absolute winners that I repeat ad absurdum to keep me drinking good beer (Biermuncher's Centennial Blonde and my own fantastic IIPA...okay, few=2) and a few that I...

Threads you are ambivalent about seeing

Agreed. I only want to hear about threads that you sincerely could take or leave. If a thread stirs any emotion in you, it doesn't belong listed in this thread.

Threads you are ambivalent about seeing

There are threads such as "Should I buy this equipment?" and "Successful Peanut Butter Stout" that's existence doesn't really bother me, but that I'm not particularly excited about. So, what threads are you ambivalent about?
