    Headspace in secondary?

Is there a good reason for transferring to secondary? If not, don't.

Force carbing to make Champagne - how long and what PSI?

YMMV, but I kept my last batch of dry orange melomel @ ~14psi, @38F (temp does matter) for a week and it's as fizzy as I can stand it. You have to serve it at the carb pressure or it won't remain at that level of carb. It's fine, though, since it won't foam the way beer does.

    Poll gasm

The square root of 15,345.86 is 123.8784081. What do I win? No, wait...that's wrong. It's Salma Hayek. Or maybe Daphnaie. Hell, I'm so confused.

1st year harvest, usable or waste of time?

You may not get much the first year, but I can't imagine why they wouldn't be worth using. My first year, I used them all for playing around...mostly "dry hopping" Coors Light in the glass to improve the flavor (moderately successful, since flavor > no flavor). Not sure what you mean by...

Consistent off flavor in all my homebrews

This may be a stupid suggestion, but have you ever tried to make a batch with bought water (RO, for instance) to see if the flavor goes away?

Really Bummed - Missed OG by 18 points - Advice for Beginner Batch Sparger

What was the crush like on the grain? Poorly crushed grain (as I've seen from the online HBS's) = low efficiency = low OG. Did you leave a lot of liquid in the cooler but still hit your desired batch volume? Extra sparge H2O + poor drainage/stuck sparge = low efficiency = low OG. What was the...

    Rehydration with microwave water

Pay no attention to Snopes. Microwaves use bursts of demonic energy (hellfire) to heat things. It's no wonder that plants wither and die when fed Satanic water! Your beer is all tainted by evil. PM me and I will tell you where you can ship it to have it properly disposed of by a priest. In the...

    Words and phrases I hate

The guy in the helicopter is estimating the airyness of your house, even as we speak. "even as we speak" ...anyone hate that one?

    Post your infection

Those are just CO2 bubbles. Why is there a krausen ring in your secondary? Why do you secondary in a bucket with so much headspace?

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

Yeah, looking at that thing, I can't figure how you'd adjust it. Is there any play in the wingnut on the back side? Could you take the nut off and add washers to increase the pressure?

My Ugly Junk- Corona Mill Station...

How do you get the grain into the bucket? Seems awful far away to me. Also, you need an ugly hopper to go with it.

    Should I Buy This Kegerator?

Find out if it works first. It could be that the fix is easy. I'd buy it, expecting to strip it for parts, and then test it. If it works great or can be fixed easily, then you're golden. If not, then trash the box and keep the goodies. A decent regulator is $50, new, not to mention the tank...

    Should I Buy This Kegerator?

Do it. It's worth it just for the parts.

    Kegerator has me stumped

I think we're going to need a bit more info. Pics would be helpful too. What kind of kegs, faucets, QDs, etc.? Sounds like the problem is with the faucet, but it's hard to say for sure without more info. Did it stop in mid-keg, or had it been sitting unused for a while?

First ever attempt at brisket. Epic fail.

Ahh. Thanks for the explanation. Great idea. I may have to bug Santa for a Foodsaver.

First ever attempt at brisket. Epic fail.

Forgive my ignorance, but you boil burgers? I just nuke my leftovers and they're great. Am I missing out? Wouldn't the boil water take away some of the good flavorful juice that I worked so hard to sear into my burger?
