    Sourvisiae co-pitch final ph

Anything to report back yet? I was planning to make my first Saison following a recipe on AHA using Wyeast 3711. I bought all the ingredients. Today I got a sachet of this in a swag bag I got for stewarding a comp. Now I'm wondering about doing a co-pitch.

    Cooler Mash Tun

Yeah. I don't remember where I read it, but it was one of those smack yourself in the head moments for not thinking of it myself.

    Cooler Mash Tun

I struggled to get the right mash temp for a while too. What works well for me, is add your strike water to the tun 15 or so degrees warmer than your your calculated strike water temp. Then let it sit until it drops to the calculated strike water temp. This pre-heats the cooler/tun so you...

CIP Ball- Who has a good process?

If you're heating your cleaning solution, check you pump specs. My pond pump says 90F max.

    Sanitize Oak Cubes?

So, I accidentally started pouring oak cubes into my must for my Vineco kit, thinking it was a second packet of chips. The cubes are supposed to go in the secondary. I fished out the 6 -8 that went in and put them back in the package. I probably should have just left them. Should I try to...

Do commercial brewers purge kegs of oxygen?

What if the Sanke was used at a picnic with one of those hand pumps? The empty is now filled with regular air. How do you purge that air? Just by the volume of co2?

What's the skinny on RO water?

Do those gallons of RO water "expire"? Like the old pre=paid cell phone minutes? XX to use in 90 days. If so, I don't know that you'd be saving much (or anything) if you're using it strictly for brewing.

High altitude ABV challenges at 6500’

+1 with Wayne1. It's not the yeast (assuming you use the common variants available at homebrew stores). I brew at 5700' and don't have issues with ABV. Are you fermenting in the yeast's prescribed temperature range. Oxygenating the wort?

Turning your Fermonster into a complete closed transfer system for cheap!

So, I don't have a Fermonster, but had a thought on the lids. Has anyone tried keg lube on the threads to make them easier to get off?

    Twist-Off Cap Bottles

I accidentally saved & used a 12 pack of twist offs. I just assumed they were the pry-off type and never looked to close. They worked with regular caps and held pressure until i drank them. I only noticed after, when cleaning & peeling the labels. I dumped them. I have plenty of regular...

What ever happened to beer balls?

Thanks for the necromancy! It brought back a bunch of memories!. When I turned 18, my brother and a friend and I skipped school and put a pretty good dent in one. That was 1982. In 1983 they changed the drinking age to 19. So, I was able to legally drink for 3 months in 1982, couldn't for...

    a beer with ginger

It really depends on your taste. I added 2oz grated Ginger at flame out to a 6.5 gal batch of English Ale a few months ago. It was a little too much for my taste. I'd probably do half that if I brewed it again, but I'm looking for a very subtle Ginger taste. I also soaked a couple Cinnamon...
