    Am I OK

That's what I use and have done lots of full-boils - both extract and all-grain - in a 7.5 gallon turkey fryer pot. In addition to the fermcap (which I just started using recently) I also have a spray bottle full of water nearby that works well in knocking down any pesky froth and foam early...

Homebrew clubs in Minneapolis/St. Paul area.

The Saint Paul club is quite active. I think they've got more than 100 members. Not a member but have a couple friends who are. They meet monthly at the Happy Gnome or other area spot. Saint Paul Homebrewers Club

NB Honey Weizen recipe and IBU question

Sorry. My post was confusing. I guess my question is with 6 lbs wheat LME and 1 lb of honey, is 20 IBUs going to give the beer a bitter flavor or will it be balanced? I'm trying to find the happy medium of not bitter and not too sweet with those ingredients for something my girlfriend will enjoy.

NB Honey Weizen recipe and IBU question

Hey all - I got a Northern Brewer gift card for Christmas and was going to pick up an extract kit to brew one night after work. I want to brew something light for my girlfriend and thought the Honey Weizen from Northern Brewer sounded good. She primarily drinks Leine's Honey Weiss. I'll...

First all-grain batch: Success. Falconer's Flight IPA. (With pics)

Sounds great (and that's a sweet mash paddle!). I'll definitely be doing something similar tomorrow. Were you shooting for a specific IBU in your recipe? I really enjoy Torpedo's level of bitterness, and I think that comes in at about 70 IBUs ...

First all-grain batch: Success. Falconer's Flight IPA. (With pics)

I'd love to hear about it, too. I have the exact thing planned and the same grain bill and am debating making another two-hearted clone (got some centennials in the freezer) or using the Falconer's Flight I picked up recently. Anything you'd change in your recipe?

Church opposition helps shoot down nano-brewery on adjacent land

Just had a similar thing happen around here where a small brewery/tap house wanted to open near a church. There was actually an ordinance in place (for a LONG time I'm guessing) that banned places that served alcohol from being less than 300 feet from religious institutions. The city council...

Single Hop APA: Citra, Amirillo or Simcoe?

I just finished a keg of an all Amarillo IPA and loved it. Haven't had much experience with the other 2 though.

brew in a bag question- Sparging?

You just blew my mind. I am so doing that. :ban:

brew in a bag question- Sparging?

That's what I do, too. I've got 2, 7.5 gallon pots. Mash in one, and then sparge in the other. Dump the contents of one into the other and boil. I'd like to get a large pot to do full-volume BIAB, but it's not in the budget right now, and this system seems to be working fine for me.

    Longest 3-5 day shipping EVER!

What holiday was Dec. 31? Everything was open around me (including the post office). The only day it was closed was Monday. I'm sure you'll have it in 3-5 days after it's shipped, but I bet it wasn't shipped until today.

    Sulfer and Yeast

I've got the same thing happening with a Belgian wit and wlp400 right now. Fermenter for 3.5 weeks, hit the numbers just fine, and been in the keg for 3 weeks. It smells horrible like rotten eggs. The taste is good, but I can't get past the sulfur aroma.

    drying IC

I've got an unfinished laundry room in my basement and attached a plastic hook to one of the ceiling joists and just let it hang to dry. I let the tubing hang over a pail to catch the drips. Has worked well so far!

    Underworld Awakening.....

Not really a fan, but I have watched a whole bunch of movies I otherwise wouldn't have just because of Kate Beckinsale. :D

Witbier Blue Balls Belgian Wit (Blue Moon Clone)

I brewed this a while back with WLP400 and man does it stink! I had it in primary for 3 weeks, hit my FG, and kegged about a week ago. I pulled a test pint last night and while it tastes great with the subtle orange and coriander flavors, it smells so bad it's almost undrinkable! It stinks...

Debating between Perlick 525PC or 525SS

I've bought four of the chrome perlicks and shanks from them and been very pleased. Happy kegging! :mug:

What new equipment did you get?

Immersion chiller, 1 gift card to Midwest and another to Northern Brewer and a dry-erase tap handle.

Dead Ringer IPA from Norther Brewer

I haven't tried it but love Two-Hearted. NB changed the kit name not too long ago so that's probably why there aren't any search results for Dead Ringer. Here's some info about it using the previous name (three hearted) Good Luck! :mug:

    First Brew with Wort Chiller

I accidentally stumbled on one in a closet that is supposed to be a Christmas gift for me from the girlfriend. Can't wait to use it! I've been delaying brewing anything since I found it just to avoid the ice bath. And I see you're from Royalton. Loves me some Treasure City! :mug:
