    One Gallon Starter?

I'm a little short on time for my planned brew day this Sunday. I'm planning on making a Bo Pils. I need to make a 4L stater. Using WLP802. I have a stir plate and a gallon carboy with a flat bottom. My question.. Instead of stepping up the starter over the next couple of days (running out of...

    Airlock off after primary?

Went down to transfer my Kolsch this morning and the darn airlock was off. I checked gravity two days ago and it was at 1.006. So I'm assuming it was done fermenting. Should I still be concerned? It was in a closed fermentation fridge.

    Hop addition advice

Looking for a little guidance on my hop schedule. Currently building a IPA or APA with several hops. So far grain bill is: 13.5# Pale Malt 1.6# Munich 3.6 oz Chocolate Malt I 'm happy with grain bill just wondering how to hop. I have 1oz CTZ that I was going to bitter with. This is what I...

    Misread water addition

So my only question about your method is , "How do you do you bittering addition if you are not timing the boil? ?" I am intrigued.

    Misread water addition

Doh, I misread my water additions (it was late). Went with 10gal instead of the calculated 9.17. So the outcome was that I missed my estimated OG of 1.055. The measured OG was 1.044. Big deal? Not concerned about the ABV being too low. More concerned about the bitterness being out of whack...

    Amber Ale

Working on a beer for my wife. She is not a huge fan of hoppy beers, so I thought an amber would serve her well. Thoughts on recipe?

First go with new induction setup

Brew day went fairly smooth. New cooler mash tun sprung a leak, not too bad though. Volumes in beersmith weren't correctly set for to "build", so I came up a little short. All in all took about 5 hours start to finish. Pretty much the same as before I moved to the basement. The benefit was that...

    Chapman Thermobarrel

To frame this discussion I would like to start by saying that I switched to AG about a year ago. Currently I am using a 10 gal gatorade cooler to mash in. Working in a college town I actually found the cooler amongst the trash when the kids disembarked for summer vacation. You'd be amazed by the...

    Northwest Pale Ale

Hello Everybody, Been brewing off and on for a couple of years now and last spring I finally made the jump to all grain! Well after taking the winter off I am in the planning stages for the spring. When I first started extract brewing I made a lot of mistakes, one was designing my own recipes...

    Pitchable no starter white lab"packet"

For what its worth, I used the new packaging(wlp001) in an IPA I just brewed. I was worried because I didnt make a starter and the O.G was 1.080. The brew finished at 1.018. That being said I just bottled yesterday and have yet to taste the finished product.
