Need to order the right burner for full boil

yeah, i saw that same one on amazon for only $80 and thought about it too. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0009JXYQY/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 There are just so many different variations. I see people have a lot of problems with wind. How's is this one on a windy day? I live in Kansas and...

Need to order the right burner for full boil

I know there are multiple questions about burners on here, but I'm in need of some expert advice to make my final decision and have a few questions that I was unable to find. I'm looking for something cheap to move up to a full boil. I just upgraded to a 35 Quart stainless steel pot. Its 15"...

    Has anyone used Sed Ex?

I saw these online and I was intrigued. While I don't really mind the sediment and don't find it a big deal as others. I do like the fact that I could make a 12 pack and take them camping, tailgating, or bring some homebrews to my friends without stirring the sediment up. They are rather...

    Should I top off?

Thanks. I won't bother topping off. The gravity reading was supposed to be appox. 1.051 and it was 1.055. Now I'm worried now about the lack of airlock activity. I know its not a indicator of fermentation but on my last batch I made a liquid starter and it took off after just 5 hours. Also...

    Should I top off?

Just a quick noob question. I brewed last night and when we were aerating we got a lot of foam. I though I had topped off enough because it looked like it was a little over five gallons. But I checked it again this morning and after all the foam dissipated it appears to only be about 4.8...

    Can I have a keg without a freezer/fridge?

Sounds like we are in the same predicament. SWMBO is pretty cool since she's the one that got me my first kit. We just don't have a lot of space in the garage because we want to be able to fit a car in there, and putting a freezer in the basement just doesn't seem practical when we might be...

    Can I have a keg without a freezer/fridge?

Thanks for the feedback, but I guess I'm still looking for a answer. Can I get a kegging system, force carbonate inside at around 68-70 degree temps (the amount of time it would take to force carbonate doesn't matter because I usually plan ahead), and then put it in the fridge a day or two...

    Can I have a keg without a freezer/fridge?

I just got done bottling my second batch, and while I like bottles, its just to much work. I would like to get a kegging system but I don't have enough money for a freezer right now. Which leads me to my question - Can I get a kegging system, force carbonate inside at around 68-70 degree...

    Checking on the Beer

Or just do what I do. Go out and get drunk. Mix it up. Beer, wine, jello shots, jager, pickled eggs, etc., etc... Then hopefully you'll wake up the next day with a killer hangover and not even so much as want look at your beer. Just rinse and repeat until your 2-3 weeks is up. :rockin:

    Damn, this hobby is CRAZY!

I'm in same exact situation as you (even live in KC). I'm waiting on my first stout to be done and I'm itching to get a 7.2 freezer and keg set up. I know SWMBO will freak out though. I got a IPA in the secondary for her and I'm hoping I can use that to convince her I need a upgrade.... Did...

    Playoffs NHL or NBA

+1 to the NHL. Best sport there is. It makes my wife mad because the only time I cry is when someone wins the cup.

First yeast starter. Should I use it?

Is the smell normal? I think that is the one thing that is making me so indecisive. Started brewing already so I think cold crashing and decanting is out of the question. For now I'll use it and let you know how it goes. Thanks for your response.

First yeast starter. Should I use it?

I love the forums here and have found just about everything I need. I just looking for some expert advice. I'm brewing in about a hour and just want to know if I should use the starter I made. I don't have time to cold crash or decant, but I have two more vials of yeast as back up if I need...
