    Blow-off clean up and sanitation

Without over-sharing; I got a stomach bug before Thanksgiving and the picture below shows how my Oatmeal Stout needed its blow-off tube, yet it still created a mess. I think it was Monday when fermentation was the most active and the messiest. This was also the day I felt the worst. I'm finally...

Cellaring Beer, A Gamble Definitely Worth Taking

This comment is based on knowing nothing about cellaring because I am still reading and learning about the entire topic, but could you seal the cork with wax to prevent it from drying out? I saw someone on here do that with some home brew for added presentation.

Looking for 2 milk crates in Cobb county

Looking for 2 milk crates in Cobb county to carry my carboys. I saw some on ebay in Stone Mountain but don't want to make that drive. Was wondering if anyone else in the area knows where to get them or can sell some to me. Hopefully this is okay to post in here, instead of in the "want"...

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

I have my own Oxiclean question... Is anyone familiar with a natural version like Seventh Generation Oxy Stain Remover? (http://shop.seventhgeneration.com/laundry-stain-remover.html?sku=69) According to their info it's all mineral-based but I don't see any info about what the Oxiclean brand is...

    Best Commercial Pumpkin Beer

Just saw this thread and I regret my purchase of Sam Adams Pumpkin Harvest. I will however try it anyways. Glad to see that Tröegs and Weyerbacher are high on the good list. Being from Pa, but living in Ga not sure if I will be able to try it, but I'm going to seek these out. Sorry I couldn't...

    Bottling..."For the first time"

I know this is a bit dated of a response since the thread is a month old, but I'm bottling my first brew is weekend. Learned some great things here. Just add something, I use baking soda and warm water. It may be cheaper than the Oxy. Not sure if it has the same cleaning effect. I tested my...

Article for Newcomers! Need your input!

All sounds good to me! I also saw that I messed up my glossary term. ;-) I like the other poster who mentioned temperatures. Next weekend I'll bottle my first brew and I've been so paranoid about my temps. I even placed it in a swamp cooler on the suggestions from other members, but it still...

Article for Newcomers! Need your input!

How about transitioning from extract to AG. Basics then an in-depth. I know there is a bit on the wiki. How to get into kegging; cost, how you can hack or do it on the cheap. Maybe a glossary on what people mean when they say AG (all grain), OG (original poster). These are some things as a...

last minute questions before first brew day

I have my spray bottle and I'm going to do the 1/2 tsp to 32 oz. I saw that flars was using a carboy, but my plan is to use a bucket. Will the colder surrounding water be able to transfer through the plastic like it would with glass? The example flars and other poster (sorry can't go back on...
