6 Gallon Carboy too big for 5 Gallon Batch?

Get one of each. It's only money. You'll make more. Like JustLooking said, glass is better for long term aging. I like the plastic with the wider openings when i'm dry hopping.

6 Gallon Carboy too big for 5 Gallon Batch?

Take your co2 and pump it into the 6 gallon carboy before racking into it. I would just go buy a 5 gallon better bottle. They're cheap and you will certainly need it again.

Chronical Fermenter by SS Brewing Technologies

Yeah, and I don't know why people keep complaining about that and about the 40 degree vs. the 60 degree slope. My plastic bucket doesn't have a slope and I can't dump the trub out of it. Still on the waiting list though. Kinda sucks.

    Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Great post. I have been wondering about this as I am currently designing my brewhoulse that I plan on building in my basement. I was considering installing a big bathroom ventilation fan and using the dryer vent hole that is already in the wall. I gather by your post that this would not be...

I need a recommendation for a good beginner guide for all grain brewing

That is a good video. It really is that easy, and I think you'll be surprised at how good your beer comes out. I waited three years to switch to all grain and i wish I hadn't waited so long. Good luck to you guys.

I need a recommendation for a good beginner guide for all grain brewing

And if you don't want to "jump in the deep end with both feet", you can try this as an introductory method and you won't need as much equipment. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/easy-partial-mash-brewing-pics-75231/ What city are you in? I would be willing to bet that someone on this forum is...

Perfect! northernbrewer.com has an all grain kit on their home page today. Click on the link and they have a video on what an all grain system is and basically how to use it. Bear in mind that you can build these parts much cheaper, but some people like to buy the kit and start making beer...

I need a recommendation for a good beginner guide for all grain brewing

Just wondering how far along are you guys. Do you have a mash tun and equipment already? Are you planning on buying the equipment or making it? Dennybrew.com http://hbd.org/cascade/dennybrew/ has a good page on making your own mash tun and then batch sparging. I would think the best way is to...

Tips on my first BIG beer

yes, that will work, put some sanitizer in the water jug. Did you only pitch one pack of nottingham yeast? If so, that may not be enought to finish your beer, If it does finish, the yeast may be stressed and cause off flavors. I gather that is to be a dry stout, so maybe pitching your super...

Wanting my honey ale to taste like honey!

I have had success when adding it to the secondary. Definitely use the honey malt, then, If you plan on racking to secondary, warm up the jug of honey in hot water, put it in the secondary, then rack on top of it.
