    My beer has been fermenting for 48 hours and it appears to be going down (sorry not good lingo). It's more soupy looking now rather then being raised. Is this bad or normal?

    Can I check the temp. While it is fermenting or is it bad to open the lid of the bucket?

    Thanks for your response! It only sat at 80F for about an hour then I was able to cool it down and placed it into my basement where it is 65F. So even if I check the gravity in a couple days or two and if it is at correct levels I shouldn't rack it to the secondary yet?

    Is it bad to ferment primary at about 55F when it says stay between 65-75F temperature? Does it just slow the process in a colder temp. or will it ruin the beer?
