    ANVIL FOUNDRY ALL-GRAIN BREWING SYSTEM

They have had a black friday sale, last year was 15% off of lots of stuff, 2 days on anvil, but year prior other stuff only. If it were me, I'd buy now, open it up and test it with just water. If you can't do that, wait... thats just my opinion

Need advice brewing with well water and on a septic system

I would filter the water if the iron is high, otherwise give it a shot. I lived on well water in southern GA and the Iron and minerals were so high it left a nice ring on the pots when boiled. Never brewed with it. And didn't drink much either...

Has anyone ever used an aluminum wort chiller?

Retired, everything paid off, brewing and drinking whenever I want. And no I don't live in a mobile home....

Has anyone ever used an aluminum wort chiller?

Except your mouth and the liquid touches bare aluminum outside every time you drink a drop out of a can, plus if you eat out, there is an almost 100% chance they cooked your food in an aluminum pan. Largest manufacturer in the US of commercial restaurant pots and pans is 100% aluminum...

    Nottingham- $2/pack

I've almost always ordered on line or picked up stuff when I traveled as when I started homebrewing, it was illegal in MS and was until we moved to AR. No local shops. I stopped brewing for a few years, and found a local shop near to me. Owner, the second guy who owned the place was a dick...

    Can’t stop MFL leak

I would purchase a bottle of plumbers sealant. It is a non hardening sealant that is safe for drinking water. Put a dab around the male threads and it should eliminate the leaks. Should.....

    REALLY disappointed with morebeer

Typical. I placed order last year and they wanted to make an addition shipping charge. I put in all my info correctly. I cancelled the order. Such BS. Don't buy from them. A dollar or two savings ain't worth the trouble. But it isn't always just them. Northern had a pump I wanted...

    Holy S**t! Bar Keepers Friend

Two Vessel No Sparge has become my favorite setup. Check it out!

Works. Similar to a three vessel I used, but didn't go back to water vessel. Other than that, if you like it use it. I don't like dealing with propane for brewing any more, and I love single vessel electric. Oh, you aren't old. My first brew was in 1984.....

Minimum town size to support brew pub?

Almost 2 year old thread. Arkansas in interesting when compared to a lot of other States. Zero food requirement for a brewpub, which is a misnomer. Should just be called a brewery or brewbar. Here in NW Arkansas, we've got a bunch, haven't counted, but over a dozen of varying size and...

    Endless Keg Phenomenon

Ha, I finished one keg, put in another. Left keg with my stout seemed like it was almost gone too. OK, get the next brewing. 2 weeks later (but mainly drinking from new keg and left still not empty. Got two wine bottles, filled and corked. Yeah, lazy, will be pretty flat, but it's a stout...

Primary fermentation done in 72 hours?!?

I had my last batch really finish at 48 hours. As in the Windsor yeast were DONE, absolutely zero fermentation after 72 hours. It sat the rest of this week and I kegged it Friday after 10 days. Still has to settle in keg another week or two to get good and clean....lots of time it isn't...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

I'll chime in also. I bought simple 4 items, all equipment, no supplies that had to be weighted and bagged up. Was 2 weeks getting to me. Yeah, $10 coupon. Should have applied the coupon to this order. Mt issue is that they immediately are charging your CC for the goods. I'll most...

First Porter - Fast and Furious and Now Stuck?

Haven't used this yeast before, but 1.024 isn't that terribly high to end, yes it is higher than the numbers say it might should be, and one thing to research is where this particular yeast ends. I just brewed porter and used windor yeast. 1.064 and yeast stopped entirely at 1.027. 5.5%...

Determining Conversion Efficiency in "All-in-one" electric systems

Nope, if you mix, they float, malt sinks....waste of money and space. And I'm fine with only brewing big once in a while, but I don't have room in the two keg fridge for a big one to sit all year so I'd have to bottle, and it ain't happening....

Determining Conversion Efficiency in "All-in-one" electric systems

Ha, it's like using rice hulls to try and prevent stuck mash. Malt, even when ground fine, is heavier than rice hull which ain't doing anything to help....
