    Yeas I have a valve for flow. The problem really comes from clogging. I've made a spider (all stainless) but it doesn't reach down far enough for ky 5 gallon batches in my kettles.... Any tips? How do you sanitize you pump and chiller if you're whirlpooling without them?

    A British strain might be perfect with the British MO malt. S-04 sounds perfect, or maybe WL1007, but you wanna stick with a clean ale yeast and ferment low to really let the hops shine.... US-05 can't really be beat for that....

    As a side note - the beer tasted fantastic!!! The spice level is right on and, for me, the pumpkin really comes through. I know a lot of people say that they can't taste it, but I (and SWMBO) really can!

    That doesn't sound 'good'. I've never experienced that character, but this is only my second pumpkin beer and its only 2 weeks in primary. Are you saying that your experience with adding pumpkin is bad because of this??
