    Goodbye bad poppets

I run universal poppets on all seven of my kegs. The only issue I've had with the universals is when their o-ring fails and they leak everywhere. That's happened 3-4 times now so I bought a sack of poppet o-rings and replace them every 4-5 tear downs.

Gravity Measurement: Brix vs Specific Gravity

I'm sure this has been discussed somewhere but my Googlefu is broken at the moment. The entire 11 years I've been brewing, I've used specific gravity measurements as part of my process. However, I see some brewers and some equipment using Brix. Is there an advantage to one over the other...

    Kettle Repair

    Perfect!

    Kettle Repair

If TIG welding won't work, perhaps it could be brazed by a skilled professional welder? Personally, I'd contact Blichmann first to see what's what before I attempted any home repairs though.

    Kettle Repair

Blichmann doesn't have a warranty to cover that? Otherwise, I would find a local TIG welder to weld the crack shut.

    Bluebonnet Brewoff 2021

Congrats on the win! Out of curiosity, are you affiliated with any particular club? I had fun helping with the judging this year. It's actually helped my brewing quite a bit.

    Ball Keg conversion

Yeah, I don't know how to go about converting that. I don't think the design lends itself to modification. I wonder if there's a way you could somehow tranfer the beer to a corny?

    Ball Keg conversion

How does their handpump attach? Is it a threaded connection or something that clicks/locks into place? The literature you shared looks pretty old. Any idea if the new ball keg might be an updated system?

    Poppet question

Should be able to. I've seen retrofit posts for sale that convert pin lock to ball lock.

    SS Convoluted Counterflow Wort Chiller?

I have a convoluted copper CFC. The copper will surely conduct some heat! Be sure you connect it up in such a way as you don't need to be near while it's being used. I recirculated for 5 minutes, then reached over it to turn a pump on and permanently burned two stripes onto my under arm. Ouch!

2 Vessel K-RIMS Gas Fired Setup

Not an expert but that's roughly the same set up I've built. Six beers in and it's worked so far, although I have averaged ~65% efficiency which is less than I'd hoped for.

Looks like I'm finally going to try 2 Vessel K-RIMS

I have moved from a BIAB set up to a two vessel K-RIMS set up myself. I brewed a SMaSH with a friend of mine last year who has a Brew Easy and was so impressed I cobbled my own together. My efficiency isn't great but everybody sure drinks all the beer I brew...

    BIAB - Bag vs Basket?

I am a direct fire propane brewer and I started brewing all grain with the BIAB method. I used the bag once, then got an offer from Amazon to buy a SS basket that just fit my 8 gallon kettle and have used it ever since. The basket and kettle now form the mash tun portion of my kettle RIMS...

    Upping Your Game

I try to improve my technique every time I brew in the hope that each batch gets a little better each time. Some brew days are great. Then there are some where Fate intervenes. But I never stop trying to improve and make a better beer.

    Biggest lie on homebrew talk

If we're airing the dirty laundry about things we dislike reading in forums - that seems to be what this thread has become, here's my submission: The folks who don't close the loop on an idea or recipe. :( Inquiring minds need closure. Noobies who can't Google... Overly excited new...

CO2 Refills in the Lewisville/Flower Mound Area?

Texas Brewing in Halton City refills bottles. I live in Dallas and just had three 5lbers refilled at Koetter Fire Protection. They pressure tested a bottle for me as well.

My adventure in Blending a Gueuze

This is fascinating. So you actually used native yeast captured during the cold parts of the year to ferment your wort? Wow.

How to make this beer enjoyable.

Drink it and make sure you put the extras in the next batch.
