Testing 3 different danstar strains with SMaSH

@RevKev - I've run that yeast with a an aggressive west coast style IPA in the past and found the same thing. For this brewery our core IPA will be more east coast/english so it shouldn't have as much of a negative impact but in all honesty, I'm not that hopeful on it in relation to Notty...

    Kit recipe modification ideas

You will have to make so many changes that you basically got the kit for no reason. I honestly would suggest brewing it as is so you have a nice drinkable amber then designing a pale ale recipe. If you are not yet comfortable designing a recipe you can always borrow one from here, buy a clone...

    Peanut butter stout?

Not familiar with that brewery but I am about to run a commercial test batch of a peanutbutter milk stout in my brewery tomorrow using 15.5lbs PB2 per bbl (not a typo) and no artificial flavoring of any kind. I'll keep you in the loop.

Testing 3 different danstar strains with SMaSH

I am a professional brewer who recently joined a new start up brewery that is still in it's testing phase with a 1 bbl system while our facility and 7 bbl system are being built. Due to our climate (Florida) we have had a ton of issues with shipping, stability, and viability of liquid yeast...

The worst beer I have ever had in my life...

Also I don't want to sound rude but you were surprised guinness tasted terrible? First off the original recipe was supposed to be a light colored beer but he was cheap and literally burnt the grains as a means of tax evasion and said "well...f*ck it, its dark now!" Second, Ireland keeps the "A"...

    Local Only Trade (LOT)

Central FL based seeking anything Yards Brewing (Philly, PA), ESA or Ales Of The Revolution would be dope. I can get a bunch of cool local FL stuff (green bench, red cypress, intuition, central 28 for example) as well as terrapin, cigar city, funky buddha...just to name a few.

How do I know how much yeast slurry to use?

Buy a microscope. Buy a hemacytometer (slide that is used for counting cells). Figure out your ratio of viable cells to volume of fluid in the sample (literally by counting under the microscope). Utilize any one of the numerous free pitching rate calculators available online which typically only...

The worst beer I have ever had in my life...

Worst beer I've ever had in my entire life is from Ormond Brewing Company in Ormond Beach, FL. In the past 2-3 years they've had 3 different brewers and every time there has been no improvement. I am a professional brewer in the same county as them so I do not wish to start anything and will...

Danstar London ESB Dry Ale Yeast - Anyone use it yet?

I am a professional brewer who recently joined a start up brewery based out of Florida that is still in it's testing phase while our facility and equipment build out is being completed. Due to our warm climate (even at this time of year) we have had a ton of stability and viability issues with...
