Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer Bourbon Vanilla Porter (AG)

Found this post made by Denny himself on the Northern Brewer forum. Apparently, the correct version of the recipe is this: Recipe Specifics ---------------- Batch Size (Gal): 5.00 Wort Size (Gal): 5.00 Total Grain (Lbs): 17.75 Anticipated OG: 1.086 Plato: 20.58 Anticipated SRM...

    How to FAIL a breathalyzer

By the way, my girlfriend is Bosnian and was able to translate some of this for me. He doesn't say "I haven't been drinking, officer", he says something like "go f*ck yourself" but a lot worse.

    OG is way too low

My hydrometer is graded in .00x decimals. But hell, .001 doesn't make a huge difference.

    OG is way too low

Yeah, I know. I'll have to be careful. But what I've heard, there's a small "cushion" of CO2 above the beer, so if I stir carefully and don't get too much air/CO2 into it, I should be safe, right?

    OG is way too low

Thanks, I'll try that. I'll tell my dad to stir the beer a bit before taking each gravity sample as well, can't hurt. Yeah, it is pretty nice to have a common interest. I probably have him to thank for getting me into craft beer, even though I'm probably more interested than him now.

The stupidest comment on your beer

I don't think I've ever gotten that question, but no, it's not stupid. Personally, I serve my beer to pretty much everyone who wants it. Most people I know don't know much about beer, so I usually give them tips and try to get them into craft beer. The funniest thing must have been when I...

The stupidest comment on your beer

Haven't really gotten a lot of stupid comments on my beer, except for the "how do you get alcohol in it". Then again, I'm still on my second brew.

    Civet cat coffee

Checked their website and you're right, it's ca phe chon. And now that you mention it, it had a weaker coffee taste than the original BGB. Kind of disappointing. Well, I liked it anyway and I'll probably buy it again.

    Civet cat coffee

Yeah, cost me 68 DKK in Denmark, compared to about 50 for a bottle of Beer Geek Breakfast, another coffee stout from Mikkeller. It will cost 99 SEK when it comes to Sweden, which is pretty standard for this type of beer.

    Civet cat coffee

I haven't tried the actual coffee, but I had a bottle of Mikkeller's Beer Geer Brunch Weasel, which is brewed with Kopi Luwak. It was great.

    Pissed Off As Hell

The vid is removed, but I watched one of his dip reviews. The guy doesn't seem too smart, not the kind of guy I want representing the anti-Obama side, or the anti-tobacco law movement. And just to make myself clear, I'm not a conservative. I'm a libertarian.

    OG is way too low

Just talked to my dad. He stirred the beer a little, made a gravity sample and got a bit over 1.070, so it was just probably thinner at the top and thicker at the bottom. Feels great. Next question: how will I know when the fermentation is complete? It will probably be very hard to get an...

    New brewer from Denmark

Skål! You danish people have some really microbrew, Ölbutikken is a great store (even though I'm still a bit mad at them for closing while I was visiting the cash machine). :D

    Stone 09.09.09 Vertical Epic

As for BeerSmith, I think it would be easiest to first get the percentages right, then setting your efficiency, then adjusting volume until you get the right OG and then scaling it to whatever you want.
