    Style suggestions for water profile

I only intend to use this water very rarely, as it's an 8-10 hour drive from here. Truly, I just thought that the idea of using their water unchanged was neat. i.e. This is a great beer that suits your water profile. I'll probably call it Northwoods something. :) That's why I resist...

    Style suggestions for water profile

Thanks for the advice. I would like to modify the water as little as possible. I have successfully brewed stouts with Indianapolis water, because it is well-suited to darker styles. I'd like to do the same thing with this water, i.e. tailor the beer to the water, not the other way around...

Have you asked anyone else about the fusels? Perhaps you're tasting something else?

    Style suggestions for water profile

My wife's parents' house has, by far, the best water I've ever tasted. They live in the UP, and source their water from a well. I intend to bring some home next time we visit so that I can brew beer with it. With this in mind, I asked them to send a sample to Ward Labs. The results of that...

    Basement Brewing with Turkey Fryer

Don't you still need exhaust for an electric setup? I would think you would need to vent the humidity to avoid destroying any paper or other moisture-sensitive materials you may be storing in the basement.

    Condition in bucket before kegging?

    I don't think I'd use a Lowe's bucket after reading this: http://www.virtualweberbullet.com/plastics.html

    Rogue brewery hazelnut clone

The beer has now carbed up, and it tastes great! Unfortunately, even at 10ml, the hazelnut flavor is a little bit too "out in front." It's still enjoyable, but it would be better if some of the other flavors in the beer could come out more. Next time, I think I'll try cutting it back to 5ml...

    Rogue brewery hazelnut clone

I debated about whether to revive such an old post, but... I brewed this, and I bought Hazelnut extract from Amoretti (http://amoretti.com/) -- They have a "Hazelnut, Praline," that isn't listed on their website, which is what I bought. It has a great smell, and the beer tasted great at...

    Where to Find Amarillo?

My brew shop was almost out of Amarillo this week (I was able to buy 2.4 oz), so my Simcorillo IPA turned into Simcorillo Penguin, with the addition of Glacier hops. I'd really like to get some Amarillo, so that I can brew this beer all-grain. I'd really like to do an A/B test of all-grain...

    Any morebeer.com affiliates?

Are you're a morebeer.com affiliate? The first person to respond to this post with their morebeer.com affiliate ID can be my "parent affiliate." I assume this means that you earn a portion of my referrals. Any takers?

    Calling All Bloggers

Yep. I haven't found the plugin to be particularly useful, though. It does two things for me: 1) Gives me a web form I can use to populate the DB, and 2) Gives me the data in JSON format for use with my javascript. It has *tons* of other features that don't suit my needs. :) I'm not really...

    Calling All Bloggers

Hey Guys, I have a brewing blog at wholegrainbrewing.com. A cursory search of the forums shows that a lot of you guys also have brewing blogs. I propose we make a list, in this thread, so that people (myself included) can subscribe to RSS feeds, or otherwise put these blogs on their radar...

    pre-crushed grain question

My local brew shop recommended that I buy bulk grain uncrushed. They told me that I could bring my grain in and they would crush it for me. You might ask your LHBS if they're OK with a similar arrangement. Of course, I'm sure this would depend on you buying the grain from your LHBS to begin...
