Pin style vs. threaded CIP balls?

Hmm, okay, I understand your point and appreciate you articulating it. Perhaps I will consider a gentler pump return instead. Indeed, the thread has gone off topic now, but ultimately I am just seeking advice on my next build, so that's no problem with me. For your silicone hose return, do you...

Pin style vs. threaded CIP balls?

Are you saying that you think it will be constantly getting clogged up with grain bits, rather than rarely? I am using a BIAB system, so I figured the grain should be pretty well contained. Still, I would like to hear any concerns or advice before I build this thing. As for HSA, I am under the...

Pin style vs. threaded CIP balls?

See well here's where I make things complicated and reveal that I will actually be using this as a mash recirculation return, and thus will need to periodically disconnect the ball to clean any grain bits that get sucked up by the pump.

Good "everyday" cleaner for small jobs?

Sounds like a plan. I'm going to pick up an extra HDPE bucket and lid for this. Thanks!

Pin style vs. threaded CIP balls?

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed to know. By the way, I love your website/products!

Good "everyday" cleaner for small jobs?

So you only use cleaners when you have caked on dirt. That makes sense. For the StarSan, do you keep a bucket of it premixed long term, or do you mix it up on the spot? I'm always worried about it losing potency if kept premixed for long periods.

Pin style vs. threaded CIP balls?

Meaning that the pin style would be easier? I suppose you don't have to worry about thread tape with the pin style, but I have also always found cotter pins to be a little difficult to work with.

Good "everyday" cleaner for small jobs?

Hi all, I love PBW to death, but it is not always convenient to mix up, and it doesn't keep well once mixed (given that the oxygen volatizes), so I am at a loss for a good light-duty everyday cleaner for small jobs. For context, I am making a lot of meads lately, and given that they require a...

Pin style vs. threaded CIP balls?

Hi all, I am in the market for a CIP ball, and am a little confused as to exactly why "pin style" connections are a thing. I can't find any information anywhere else online, so I'm hoping someone here can shed some light. For some context, here are examples of the two styles: Threaded...

Brewers Hardware Quick Clean Tri Clamp Ball Valve

Thanks for clarifying. So you're saying that the bore of the quick-clean ones are ~1.5", whereas your ones are 0.5"? I agree that the extra width doesn't offer anything, given that your tubes/other fittings are probably all 0.5" also, but I don't think it would hurt either. I just like the easy...

Brewers Hardware Quick Clean Tri Clamp Ball Valve

I'm confused about your tri clamp valves.... Are the actual tri clamp flanges .5"? Most every conical or pot I've seen has 1.5" flanges. Can you give me a link to the kettle you have? Thanks.

Brewers Hardware Quick Clean Tri Clamp Ball Valve

Thanks for the review. Is yours the threaded one? 1.5" is a standard size for tri-clamps, but I agree with you that 1/2" is all you need for threaded fittings. Can you compare it to a 3-piece ball valve? It seems much easier than 3-pieces for cleaning, and that is their main selling point.

Brewers Hardware Quick Clean Tri Clamp Ball Valve

Hi everyone, I was looking for tri-clamp ball valves online today, and came across a new style offered by Brewers Hardware: https://www.brewershardware.com/1.5-Tri-Clover-Tri-Clamp-Ball-Valve-Quick-Clean-TC15VBALLTAP.html They also have a video of its operation...

Usability of old used blue glass carboys?

Thanks for pointing that out. It looks good in person, thankfully.

Usability of old used blue glass carboys?

Haha... Thanks. Initially, I thought I got screwed with these. Now, I agree that it was a good find. Give your friend a call... You can never have too many carboys, right? Merry Christmas, by the way. I hope Brewing Claus was good to you.

Usability of old used blue glass carboys?

Thankfully not. Do you mean to the left of the suspected rust stain? I think that's just a trick of the glass retracting the light. You can't see it in person.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Once, I was out to dinner with my wife, her friend, and her friend's boyfriend. We start talking about homebrewing and beer in general, and he asks me "what type of IPAs" I like. I name a few, and return the question, to which he responds with a list of decidedly-not IPAs. It took me another...

Thanks for the advice. What kind of bleach concentration would you recommend? Also, do you find bleach soaks have benefits over PBW+StarSan?
