So who has brewed with homegrown comet hops? Any thoughts in comparison to other varieties?

And, I'd love to be able to order from greatlakehops, but I'm in Canada so tracking down certain varieties can be challenging.

Reading the descrition about comet hops from greatlakehops, it mentions that they"re a lighter color than other hops. They're a cross of "sunshine" hops which is supposedly an ornamental light colored hop.

So how did your comet hops turn out? I assume you've picked them by now... Have you brewed with them yet?

It's really hard to identify most hops based on pictures. The most oniony common hop that I'm aware of is Columbus/Zeus. The second looks like it could be a seedling and has a percentage of native/wild North American hops. Hopefully someone who knows more than me chimes in.

Nice. Is there much variation between the plants (vigour, cone size, etc.)? If you end up brewing with them, post your thoughts! Cheers!

Comparing the smell of my freshly dried neo1 hops to my freshly dried centennial... Neo1 is full of citrus - more orange/tangerine or orange blossom than lemon this year. No real grapefruit, pine, herbal or dank notes. Just subtle fruit. Smells delicious. Centennial is more pungent, but less...

My Neo1 is quite lemony. It's subtle though - not as pungent as my centennial growing next to it. It's a smaller bine, but just packed with long cones.

Supposedly you can sometimes find bine tips in packaged fresh hops. Sometimes these hops can be fresh enough that you would be able to root them. The guy I know just put the bine tip (1 or 2 inch bine in the packaged hops) in water with rooting hormone and it developed roots. The bine he rooted...

If I use paper towel, do I leave the ziplock bag unlocked? Do you change the paper towel ever? And I assume you would put the seeds in the fridge in the spring a month or two before I can transition them outside? And, I was surprised about people rooting fresh hops (this is packaged fresh hops...

Also, does anyone know where to get fresh hops in Canada? I know a few people have been able to root the bine tips found in fresh hops. I'd love to find some Citra or Mosaic fresh hops to scour for bines.

So based on recommendations here I got leaf hops and now have at least 3 mosaic (I haven't gone through the whole bag) seeds. So, I've got a bunch of perlite... Do I spray it with water and put it and the seeds in zip lock bags in my fridge? How much water? Do I zip the bags air tight? Should I...

If possible, it's better to pick the cones and leave the bines. The bines should naturally die back in the winter after giving all their nutrients to the rhizomes.

Any updates for 2018? I've been growing Neo1 for 5 plus years and they're thriving up in Canada.
