    Chinook Dry Hop?

That is one combination I've been considering. I have Citra at my disposal as well, I'm considering doing 1oz Chinook, 1 oz Citra, and 1 oz Cascade for the dry-hopping.

    Chinook Dry Hop?

Are there any hop combination's that pair well with the Chinook hop? I also did the Chinook IPA kit but I'd like to add another hop variety or two to the dry hop. I can't really seem to find any resources online that list how hops interact with each other on flavor and aroma.

where does yeast physically reside in the beer/wort?

Yeh I'm regretting moving it now, I made the mistake of following the kit instructions as closely as possible.

where does yeast physically reside in the beer/wort?

This might be a dumb question but I've never really seen it clarified. I've been reading up on how a lot of people prefer to keep beer on the yeast cake as opposed to moving it to a secondary carboy if they aren't dry-hopping. Why is it so important to leave it on the cake? Isn't the yeast...

Is it advisable to boil hops and then add the sterilized hopwater to the secondary?

yeh that's a good point, it would probably be a huge mess considering how fast pellets dissolve. I'll stick to dry-hopping on this go-around. I'm still on the fence about the number of hop varieties I put in. On one hand I want to get a more complex hop aroma but at the same time it'd be...

Is it advisable to boil hops and then add the sterilized hopwater to the secondary?

I agree with you that I will sacrifice a control group (for recognizing how Chinook imparts flavors, aroma, and bitterness upon a beer), but in retrospect I don't think I would have picked my current kit if I had known what I was looking for. I essentially picked it out before I read up on the...

Is it advisable to boil hops and then add the sterilized hopwater to the secondary?

Well I am pretty sure I want to break off from the directions and add 2-3 more hop types when I dry-hop. I've spent the last day or so searching the boards for the best dry-hopping hops and I don't think I've seen Chinook mentioned a single time, whereas I see Citra and Cascade mentioned...

Is it advisable to boil hops and then add the sterilized hopwater to the secondary?

I'm new to all this, I was just wondering if this was advisable to boil additional hops in sterilized water @ various lengths, cool them and then add them to 9 day-old beer which was just moved to a secondary fermentor. I realize that this should of been done when initially boiling the wort...

Visiting DC...send me to a good bar!

RFD is the sister company of Brickskeller that has around 300-400 beers to choose from. I've never been but Bilbo Baggins in Alexandria, VA has a good selection of microbrews on tap. Heard good things but never went. Not too familiar with any microbrewery's but I haven't seeked them out either...

burn on inside of stainless steel brewing kettle

Hi all, I made my first batch from an extract kit this past weekend. When I was done I realized that I didn't stir my wort enough or I left my specialty grain bag in one spot for too long as there was a 3 inch in diameter scorch mark on the bottom of the kettle. There is definitely some...

starting a second batch before first batch finishes?

Ok, looks like I will soon be purchasing another secondary carboy.. what's the shipping normally run on the glass 5 gallon carboys? I'm debating doing glass vs plastic.

starting a second batch before first batch finishes?

I brewed my first batch ever this past Saturday, a Chinook IPA, and everything appears to be going as planned... how many of you brewed up a second batch before you found out the results of your first brew? Or is doing that being overaggressive? I just know that the 5 gallons I have...
