    Caramel cream ale?

I am waiting on the mash for this recipe right now but need some clarification on something. I add the 4oz of lactose and the 4oz of vanilla extract to the primary and then add the wort right?

When do you add the Lactose? I have never used that before.

Round Vs. Square Cooler for Mash Tun

I tried to use an aircraft braided hydraulic line (it was new) but I could not get the braid off. They are built so they will not separate. Go figure huh? Anyway I ended up buying a SS braided toilet water supply line for $5. I then used SS safety wire that I coiled up around a pencil and put...

    Resurrection of 777

If I didn't just brew a rye IPA I would definately do this one. Guess this will just have to be on my "to brew list".

    Beer,Beer More Beer

I have used Williams a few times and love them. 2 days from placing the order to having it on my doorstep. With only 6 bucks for shipping its cheaper for me to order from them and I don't have to pay 8.8% sales tax or drive anywhere.

    Too long in the Oxi-Clean

If you run them through the dishwasher don't use soap, this might help. Maybe if you soak them in some hot water and then hit them with some scotchbrite or a kitchen scrubbie?

    Long Fermentation??

I would take a gravity reading just to be sure. You can use a sanitized turkey baster to collect the wort for a sample or a plastic wine thief from your LHBS.

    Too long in the Oxi-Clean

The last 2 weeks in a row I have let 24 - 22oz bottles sit in a cooler with water and 1 scoop of oxi-clean for a week before cleaning them. I had no residue and also I filled up the bottles with plain water before soaking in oxi-clean so I would not get the soap inside the bottles. You may have...

    Getting involved

Wow I forgot about this thread. Maybe we could work something out and get our own beer swap going. I have my first AG bottled that is ready to go, a Mac & Jacks African Amber clone. I just bottled my second AG yesterday, Denny's Rye IPA(hopefully its ok, I discovered my airlock and bung laying...

Yet one more Star San/ BB question

Better-Bottles response= To the best of our knowledge, you will not encounter any problems. We do not recommend long term storage, because we have no way of testing the impact of long term storage under all the possible conditions that might exist in the field. Also, diluted sanitizers...

    Kettle to carboy

Sometimes I siphon but the last few batches I have just used a sanitized pitcher and scooped the wort up and poured it through a strainer/funnel into the fermenter.

Yet one more Star San/ BB question

I did a search in this forum looking for info on storing Star San in a BB. What I found was very contradicting. Some people say its ok some say not. If you go to BB's website this is what they say... Resistance to Sanitizing Agents Test Conditions 1 day at ~ 25° C In actual...

Alaskan brewing is releasing an IPA

Just bought a sixer while on a run to the store for Ben & Jerrys for SWMBO. Beer is a bit lighter than most IPA's but has a great hop aroma. Very well balanced and not quite as hoppy as most IPA's I have had. This may because I have been drinking Stone RIPA lately. Very good beer however as...
