Roofer took over my side yard

I'm just going to leave this here... Your is a possessive – it means something belongs to you. Ex) your name, your car, your house. You’re is short for “you are.” Ex) you’re beautiful, you’re smart, you’re welcome

    Best homebrewing app for iPhone

I actually purchased Beersmith for my iphone before the desktop version sort of by accident. Like others, I create recipes on the desktop, but I really like having it on my phone as well. - I like using the app when I'm shopping for ingredients. Everything is right there, and if I need or want...

    Lager fermenting faster than expected

I had just about the same thing with my WLP830 German lager yeast. 4L starter for a 10gal batch and I first checked it at about 1 week and it was at 1.010, so I slowly bumped up from 55 to 62 and will let it have for 2-3 days then slowwwwwly crash. You're totally good!

    Quality Brew Kettle

Buy an old keg off craigslist. I've been using mine for like 5 years and it's great. I think they look cooler than a fancy pot anyway.

    Hard lemonade / Skeeter 4 Summer 2019

I like what I'm reading and think I'll give the old hard lemonade thing a go! I've got a kolsch that I'm about ready to cold crash, which means access to loads of WLP830 lager yeast. I think I might just way over pitch and see what happens!

    First complement on my beer

Dang! Cool that the owners were pumped on your beer though. That's worth somethin for sure Funny thing is, I almost had the same brewing connection happen to me a second time! Wife signed up a guy at a gym during the time I was brewing. Him and his partner met up with me for an interview, and 2...

    First complement on my beer

Oh I certainly didn't make tons of money. I believe Hwk-I-St8 referenced all that money "to start" a brewery. Basically, I had a friend connect me with his friend who was looking to start a brewery. We met up one day and he tried a handful of what I had on hand at the time and next thing you...

What are you kegging besides beer?

One of my Korean friends made Makgeolli and asked if I would carbonate it. I can't say that I'll ever do it again, however, it was kind of neat to learn about.

    First complement on my beer

This is basically how I became a professional brewer for a month!

    First complement on my beer

I've got a neighbor that tried one of my espresso stouts literally 3 years ago, and just last weekend when I was brewing he pulled over as he was driving by just to tell me it's still the best to date. Sure enough, I went and gave the guy more beer! Best part of brewing is sharing with others...

    National Homebrew Competition 2019

Has anybody ever placed 2nd or 3rd in the first round and done better in the second round?

English Porter Black Pearl Porter (AG)

I submitted this one to the National Homebrew Comp and scored a 35 and a 38 and took 3rd place in the Denver 1st round. Once again, shout out to BM for a good one.

    Brewing Journal

Get your google on! There is a ton of info out there with regards to setting up a profile etc. You got this! BS can be a bit overwhelming, but just know that you'll be able to grow with the program. It's helpful for the first timer as well as the pro level.

Drip Tray - to drain or not to drain?

I've rocked my keezer and drip dray with no drain for over 5 years. I feel that it's kind of just one more thing to clean, however, that depends on your setup as well. I think I originally attached mine with velcro so that I could remove it and rinse in the sink, but I've always just wiped it...

    Brewing Journal

^ I can get down with that actually. I keep a binder of my competition results, as well as a binder with fermentation logs. I think I might just start printing out the brew day sheet from BS and include that with the fermentation log. Gosh we're a bunch of nerds!

    Brewing Journal

@CascadesBrewer If you purchase the desktop version of BeerSmith you can save an unlimited number of recipes, thus no need to keep paper copies of everything. With that said, BeerSmith will even generate a nice brew day "to do" list with blanks to record data. I also started with just the mobile...

English Porter Black Pearl Porter (AG)

My score sheets are attached if anybody is interested. Overall remarks: "Felt like this beer is pretty true to style. The carbonation was a tad high, and the alcohol bite isn't true to style. Seems clean and balanced." "A very good English Porter. Very drinkable and enjoyable. A little roasty...

English Porter Black Pearl Porter (AG)

Recently took 2nd place in a local competition and scored a 37 with this beer, so that's neat.

What kind of fermentor are you using..

Dangit! Now I know why I don't log on here very often. You all got me thinking about changing up from a standup conical, to something that I could clean on a keg washer, but still take daily samples of. Keep this in mind OP. With so many different types of fermenters out there, you've really...
