    Faster Lagering

Thanks for the heads up doug. I didn't realize this was even an option (not sure how I missed it). Anyway, I'm happy to build my own box out. If I have another homebrew or two my wallet may end up about $30 lighter... </off topic> Cheers.

    Faster Lagering

I believe Brulosopher, the author of the article linked in the original post, uses one of those new Black Box temp controllers. You can set up pretty intricate temp profiles on those rigs. Wish they weren't so hard to get right now... Cheers.

    100% Stainless Heating Element

Thanks Bobby. Any changes/info on the status of the 120V/2000W element?

    Faster Lagering

I've used this method several times and it has produced really nice beers each time. Definitely worth giving it a try. Cheers.

My Double IPA turned out reddish and tastes like an American Barleywine, why?

How old is the beer? Seems like a bottle conditioned DIPA that's been sitting around awhile could possibly morph into something barleywine-esque (taste-wise) as hop flavor/aroma fades. The color thing could be due to the extract, as mentioned above. Hope you're still able to enjoy the beer...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Taking a brief break from remodeling my house on Sunday morning to brew up a Schwarzbier. I'm assuming by middle/late November the weather down here will be at least a bit more appropriate for blasting back some dark beer. Cheers.

A new take on bottle labels...

This is really cool. Nice job on this. I'm not into bottling or bottle labeling, but I could totally see buying a t-shirt at some point. The one you have pictured is pretty bada$$. Cheers

    My Keezer Build!

Wow man. Really nice work on this. You should be proud. Enjoy it. Cheers.

New to kegging and have a few questions

    1) Similar to above poster, I chill the keg for 24 hours (I usually have the gas on at serving pressure during this time), then crank the gas up to 30 PSI and leave it for 24 hours. After that I turn the gas back down to serving pressure and wait a week to two weeks, depending on style, thirst...

    Asheville NC Beer Scene?

Glad you're enjoying your trip TrickyDick. One place I always mention to folks who are in/heading to Asheville is a restaurant called Salsas. They do Mexican Carribean style food. It's really tasty if you're in the mood for that kind of thing. Also check out Mayfel's for a really good breakfast...

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Hey russki another question for you - would you mind dropping some info on how you screwed in your elements to get the water tight seal? I'm specifically wondering how you approached this since the dual element style requires the elements to be slightly bent. Seems like installing these could...

Is this a usable heat stick?

I've used that heater countless times in my cooler mash tun. Never had any issues with melting or even the slightest indication that there could be an issue. I should note that I set it on my copper manifold. However, I still don't think there would be any issue if it was resting directly on the...

Is this a usable heat stick?

Yup. I use the timer and that exact bucket heater thing to heat my strike water in my mash tun. Works great. I also love waking up to hot strike water. Cheers.

What are you doing instead of brewing this weekend?

Doing some more finishing work on my kitchen remodel. A bit of drywall patching, trim, tile grout and perhaps wiring up the under cabinet lights if I can find some we like. My shop is so full of materials for the remodel that the brewery is nearly inaccessible. I wonder if I subconsciously...

    What Gauge Wire For PID?

Thanks guys. I was planning a .5A fast blow for the PID wiring. I may also add one to the pump outlet. What are people generally using on pump circuits? 5A? Plan is to use 12AWG for the element/pump circuits, and then 18AWG for the PID since I can get my hands on some easily.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

One last (hopefully) question for you - have you had any issues with the faces of your elements rusting? Thanks in advance. Cheers.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Thanks for the replies fellas. It's good information to have and puts my mind at ease. Sounds basically the same as my current cleaning process. It'll be a while before I get to building my electric system (gotta finish the kitchen remodel first), but when I do I'll definitely be referencing...

I need your support - brewing one beer a day for a year!

Glad to hear you're still keeping it going Matthew. Hope the S-04 worked out. Let's get together and grab another beer some time. Cheers and good luck with the brews.

Dual 2000W 120V Recirculating eBIAB Build

Thanks for the reply russki. So do you use PBW or Oxi and then give them a good scrub? What are you using to scrub them? Just trying to get an idea of what's involved in a cleaning process that ensures there aren't issues with scorching. I would really love to eventually build an electric rig...
