Need help with Electric Herms build

Even easier! You don't have to weld. If your pots are stainless steel you can use silver solder. It's super easy to do and very strong. Brewhardware.com has a little kit

Need help with Electric Herms build

So this is a cheap control panel that you can build 240v 30A. You can use a 3 barel system with this you just have to switch the power cables and tempurature sensors manually (not a big deal) https://www.auberinc.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=58_59&products_id=678 Check Amazon for...

strong alcohol like flavor in IPA

I just wanted to follow up. The beer turned out great. Super delicious and no fusel alcohol flavor like I originally thought so it couldnt be the yeast. I wonder....

    Bells Two Hearted question

Hop stand for 20-30 min at around 200 degrees. A lot of people like to do it at 180 but I get impatient sometimes.

    Bells Two Hearted question

I brewed this same receipe several times. (two hearted is my favorite) If you cut the bittering hops in half and add the second half at 30min it mellows out the bitterness to match more like the original two hearted. I also have done exactly what you are saying by cutting the receipe to make it...

strong alcohol like flavor in IPA

The newest ipa came in at 5.3%. My girlfriend convinced me to dry hop it even though I was going to skip it for troubleshooting sake. I only Dry hopped it for 3 days at the end of fermentation. Days 11-14. After that I went straight to the keg. I did filter this beer because I skipped secondary...

Need help with a 240v move!

You're welcome! :) I was amazed when I found the deal too. Also thinking of adding a 3 way switch and outlet (also have a 3 vessel) but beware there's not a lot of space left in the box lower right side is ur best bet for 2nd outlet

    Going semi pro

We gave a local brewer in our area called Mad Prince brewery in Doylestown PA. Super nice guys (two brothers) who brew on a 15gal system one of the already put together ones. They said the most difficult part of doing it was getting the license. It's not overwhelming expensive in PA! only...

Need help with a 240v move!

I just built my 240v 30A Box. Through my research I have found that you must have a neutral (4 wires, 2 hot, 1 neutral, 1 ground) You also must have a gfci breaker with the neutral conned to the bar as well. The gage of wire that you use to carry the voltage isn't so much a problem of voltage...

    Ink bird controlling HLT element

Yes. I was referring to the ITC 308 (had to look it up) I use it for my chest freezer. I know this is not its intended purpose (element heating) but I was looking for an easy way to heat my strike water while heating my sparge water and was hoping to dual purpose it. My basic knowledge of...

    Ink bird controlling HLT element

I don't think I worded this very well but I guess I'll just plug it straight into the wall and manually watch the temp. Thanks for the feedback everyone. :)

    Ink bird controlling HLT element

The Element itself is 5500w but I would only be using a 120v/110v source. I know it wouldn't be heating at its full potential but I was wondering if it could handle the cycling. I know that my with my Auber pid I have to use ssds to handle the cycling.

    Ink bird controlling HLT element

Has anyone used an ink bird lug and play temp controller to control a heater element? is it possible. I have a 30a single element box that I put together but I want to heat the strike water in the brew kettle at the same time as heating the sparge water in the HLT. I was wondering if I could...

strong alcohol like flavor in IPA

Do you drop the trub and keep in secondary for a week and dry hop? Also do you cold crash? I'm going to skip the dry hop this time. I've used multiple different yeast strains too. Imperial organic, wyeast 1056, and even Safale 05

strong alcohol like flavor in IPA

I agree with the rubbing alcohol thing. Will keep you posted on the results of this one. I'm thinking it must be a mix of the high alcohol content and bitterness so this batch I only used. 5oz at 30min and steeped the rest of the hops after boil to see if I could get the flavor without the...

strong alcohol like flavor in IPA

No way! I literally did that haha. The IPA in the fermenter right now should come to 5.3 abv. I figured the same thing. If I still get the taste it must be a process mistake. I was thinking it was a matter of too much hop utilization during the boil or something.

    Simple water additions

John Palmers (how to brew) has a section on water correction. There is a diagram that you can use. Chose what profile and color of beer you want and draw lines between the points and it will give you an amount of how much of what you need to get where you want. I haven't messed with it yet but...
