Talked to someone at the brewery one day. He gave me a great solution to the same problem. If you make a batch that you deem undesirable and don't want to drink... distill it! Much easier to gift that as well. cheers!

Is anyone in the Philadelphia PA area interested in trading a ball lock (you) for a pin lock (me) keg? It's a black sheep for me. Always have to change my connections back and forth and it's a pain.

Update: In case anyone who has a catalyst was wondering if it was possible to closed transfer the answer is yes. This way I just put the racking can slightly above the trub and no more worries about getting it in the keg. Gotta be careful of placement and pressure. (you will see the plastic lid...

I have a 30A one element at a time system and I absolutely love it. It was rediculously cheaper $330 as opposed to $2500 and it works great. The only thing I have to do is switch the Element wires from HLT to BK. Totally worth the savings in my opinion and the temp control is phenomenal.

think of it this way. A mechanical clock vs a digital clock. They both do the same thing. The mechanical clock is older but made of "better materials" Both day different times... which one do you trust?
