Should I Buy this used Keezer?

Worth it if it works. You can always make it more presentable.

    Local Only Trade (LOT)

    Don't we all :) :)

    Over hopped?

Too much hops? no such thing. It may be more bitter than you wanted it to be but I would still dryhop it regardless since it will just be for aroma and flavor. You won't get much bitterness from dyrhopping.

Contemplating Chest Freezer Usage for Fermentation/Cold Crashing - Safety/Weight Concerns

When my chest freezer was working.... I would place the fermenter I side of it before pumping my wort into it (no lifting in) Then when fermentation was finished I would push a metal raking cane through the bung and pressure transfer the wort into my keg. (no lifting out) I use a catalyst...

    Grainfather!!

Melting plugs are caused by more current flowing through the cable than the cable is rated for. They probably used cheap Chinese made cables. If it's a standard power chord (which is what it looks like) I would just buy a good one at home depot

    EHERMS Mash temp variation

I have a false bottom in my mash tun and my thermometer stem is pretty long. It reads more than through the center of mash. I use one of those little white wort aerators as my laurtering device. It spreads the liquid pretty good across the grain bed.

    EHERMS Mash temp variation

This is an interesting idea. I don't think I can pull it off with my setup though.

    EHERMS Mash temp variation

Because the pump is so small I leave all the valve fully open so it's as fast as it is going to go :(

    EHERMS Mash temp variation

I never turn it off. I mash in, wait 5 min for the grain to settle then recirculate the full 60 minutes.

    EHERMS Mash temp variation

To test the calibration of my probes and thermometer I warmed up some water to about 140 degrees and placed them all in at once and read the difference between them. They were all within 1 degree of each other. (my probe, mash tun thermometer, and an external brewing thermometer) To me that was...

    EHERMS Mash temp variation

Since ive been brewing with my Eherms system I've been faced with the difficult decision of which Tempurature reading I should trust in my MLT. I have calibrated all of my probes and thermometers to make sure they read the same. (they do) I have the temp probe in a 1/2 T fitting in my sparge...

    Neipa color

I second the yeast at the bottom of the keg. I've had the clearest of beer beautiful color and clarity. Move the keg around a but too much and that's exactly what it looks like. Id give it some time to rest

    Gas or Electric?

Electric elements are the way to go. So convenient. You never have to worry about running out of propane. Keeps the heat in the pot and is decently safer than an open flame. I would avoid using a stove top if at all possible. When I moved to a propane burner (before Eherms) life was grand. 50...

First Keg Day! It's Spraying everywhere!

Sorry. I meant to say it does *not* have a relief valve

    Vorloff NEIPA?

I'm looking to try another NEIPA next week. I was wondering if I should vorloff it considering we are adding lots of oats and looking for haziness rather than clarity?

First Keg Day! It's Spraying everywhere!

I have 1 pin lock keg with a relief valve. I purge the whole thing with c02 then take off the gas connector and push down on the poppet to release any oxygen. Keep doing that till I'm content with having just c02. Continue your process as usual

    Gravity going backwards?

Very nice. I want to get into distilling myself but it's a little frowned upon.

    Gravity going backwards?

I can't imagine how I could get it out without risking mass infection and oxidation. I never thought about the tilt.... Tilting more because of the Krausen. That's super interesting.

    Gravity going backwards?

I know it's pretty darn accurate when it is clean and free of debris. I have matched it with my glass hydrometer and refractoometer several times. I did notice that it had a substantial amount of krausen built up on the top of it but in my mind that would make the reading lower as opposed to...

    Gravity going backwards?

I was thinking the same thing with the goblins.
