How much hops is needed to preserve?

According to my app. I should obtain about 9.9 ibus with the small amount I put in. Hopefully that is enough. I read two articles about neipas with no boil hops and the both said the beer turned very quickly. Color and all

How much hops is needed to preserve?

So I screwed up. I have been having trying to balance my iPA's for a while now. First I wasnt getting enough bitterness from hops due to muslin bags under-isomerizing my hops then I was getting too bitter iPA's once I was throwing them in loose. So I've been putting them later and later in the...

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Going to try my hand at a real NEIPA. 1lb of Citra hops. Some cyro mosaic and drop hop with a little lemon drop hops.

    Aluminium pots

I use an al pot for my HLT. It works but beware that al is super soft. If you plan on putting a ball valve on it there is a risk of warping the hole if it's knocked or tightened too much. I tightened my ball valve too much bc it was leaking and now it leaks every time I brew. Stainless from then on

    Dernord elements

I use them and they are sick. You can buy just the housing at brew hardware.com but it looks like you'll get a better price buying then together on Amazon. $50 is a great deal

Infected beer - again / bleach?

Fittings and pumps after the boil man. Check and clean them like crazy. I didn't realize how much nasty stuff was in my bk ball valve till I tore it apart the one time. (I used to just run hot cleaner through it before and after brewing) my little solar pump had some nastys in it too. Never got...

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

If everything is tight and you have a good vaccume to start it will continue to pick up below the ball valve. If you stop the flow though you are done for. It won't start again. I have tried haha

Diptube Loses Flow At Bottom of Drilled Hole in Kettle

Had the same issue myself. You're compression fitting ring is not tight enough between the dip tube and the 1/2 fitting. If your using stainless maybe try a plastic one or tighten with a wrench if you are hand tightening it.

How do you orient your pump?

Hey! It let me post a picture. Too bad it's sideways. See my 3 way valve won't fit between the bracket and pump head which is why I have to mount it upside down that way the 3 way valve is not on the bracket end

How do you orient your pump?

I would add a photo but this app hates me andy photos

How do you orient your pump?

Thanks for the feedback as always. I will have to find a way to mount my pump upside down so I can have the outlet facing upward. It won't fit with the mounting bracket and my 3 way valve.

    Knockoff 630SS Perlick thoughts?

I second the possibility of Chrome plating. Not with it. I sucked it up and bought perlicks. They are leaps and bounds better than regular taps.

How to keep Trub out of the fermenter

I stopped using hop bags and hop filters a while ago because I noticed I wasn't getting nearly enough hop flavor. It really does make a difference to throw them in loose. I never worried about getting trub into the fermenter though. Studies have shown that some degree of trub is almost necessary...

How do you orient your pump?

I just bought a beautiful blichman riptide pump. The manual says that the head works 360 degrees but works best if the output is to the right or strait up. I tested it with the output facing down because that would be the most convenient with my setup and it did not work at all. What orientation...

    Custom-build 30A eHERMS panel - wiring check?

Contactors you can just mount to the board with whatever. Nothing to worry about using metal screws the brackets aren't

    Custom-build 30A eHERMS panel - wiring check?

Anything that sees a full 240v needs to be 10awg regardless of current whoever said that. It's not a matter of voltage or current its a matter of heat generation.
