American Porter Temporarily Out Chocolate Milk Porter

Windsor yeast, to my understanding, is already a super low attenuating yeast. I would drop the mash temp to 155 to try to lower my FG down to the low 1.020's. I am about to keg and bottle (tonight actually) this recipe with S-04 yeast, mashed at 158. I also used cacao nibs from trader joes...

American Amber Ale Zach & Jack's African Amber

I finally tapped my keg just over 6 weeks from brew day. The hop boldness is down some from the two bottle conditioned beers. Don't get me wrong, I love hops, but the flavor balanced out much nicer this way. Still get a hit of cascade hops, but the malt shines through a little more. If I...

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

I found my notes. 1.015 FG on my hydrometer. Adjust recipe accordingly

American Amber Ale Zach & Jack's African Amber

I don’t know where you got the double dry hopping idea. Just one ounce for the last few days of fermentation. Fermentation temp was 67-68. I’m without a chamber at the moment, so I can only go off my brew buckets thermometer in the morning and evening, and it was constant. My “strategy” is...

American Amber Ale Zach & Jack's African Amber

Still haven't tapped my keg, but I did have enough left over in the fermentor to fill two bottles. I also found Mac & Jacks on tap locally, so I got a growler to compare and popped a bottle. M&J on left, mine on right. Color looks about spot on. Mine is hazier, but some gelatin, a longer...

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

How about this- OP, I think you should use a different yeast, as your FG is too high to be a clone.

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

Be that as it may, I recall taking a FG measurement of Lush and getting in the sub 1.015 range I see I didn't list yeast for the recipe. I'd use US-05, 1056, or any other clean American ale yeast. I might have to brew this one in the next month or so too.

Watery, yeasty cider...how to improve next batch

I primary for about a month, and then secondary like you would a lager, for at least another month and a half. Then I keg and carbonate. The batch I have on tap right now is made from Ryan's Apple cider (easy to find in the PNW) and S-04. No sugar, no pectic enzyme, no nothing. Tastes just...

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

I'm no yeast guru, but the description seems like it would be a good candidate. Let us know how it turns out!

    2 x 2 16 gauge - OK for 15+ gallons?

Might be late now, but investing in a few (even cheap like this) welding squares makes your job much easier. Remember that your material will pull towards the weld as it cools, so don't just start by running a bead on an inside corner without getting it tacked (square) first, or your 90 won't...

Anyone have a recipe for Lush?

I think your FG is too high. I took a gravity reading of it about two months ago, and have since lost my notes on it, but it was below 1.015 if I remember. I seem to recall it being fairly dry tasting, with a lot of honey malt flavor. Citra and Mosaic were of course in your face as well. I...

    Worthy brewing peace pipe porter

I was shooting for as close to theirs as possible when I brewed this. I think it still needs vanilla, and possibly more nibs/powder in it. The people in the brewery I've spoken to have kept their lips sealed about the grain bill. However, I've had quite a few people prefer the taste of my...

    SS Brewtech Keg Cleaner

My estimates for building something like this: CIP ball- $30 ish Steel bar- $10 Submersible pump- $50 Fittings and hose- $15 Oval plate material- $10 rubber coating (plastidip?)- $5-$20 tools to machine/torch/possibly weld- already have So that's about $125 in materials to make it happen, not...

    SS Brewtech Keg Cleaner

Has anyone seen this? https://www.ssbrewtech.com/collections/accessories/products/keg-wassher This seems like a decent price point to make things easier. Materials to copy this would be about the same price from what I can gather.

    SS Brew Bucket Modifications

If you can TIG weld, these are all easy propositions. The bottom dump would most likely take up too much vertical space in a chest freezer without building a collar.

American Porter Temporarily Out Chocolate Milk Porter

I'm just about to kick the keg on round two. New grain bill is: 9lbs 2 row 1lb 120L crystal .5 lb Carapils .3 lbs Blackprinz .5 lbs dark chocolate malt .5 lbs pale chocolate malt Same mash and hops schedule. I tried Windsor yeast, and my FG was 1.029. Probably should have lowered my mash...

    Aspiring Entrepreneur

Making conical or domed bottom kettles in the 20-50 gallon range, with a bottom drain and TC hole for an electric element. Add some re-circulation points, and a wire mesh basket for BIAB, and keep the price as low as possible. I'll stop dreaming.

Coleman 52 quart conversion to mash tun

My mash tun is with this cooler. I just shoved some 3/8 ID silicone tubing through the drain and it formed a water tight seal. I then added a cheap plastic valve to the outside and did the SS braided hose for a filter on the other. Was under $10 in parts after buying the cooler.
