    CO2 Regulator

The CMBecker regulator really looks good and will definitely be my next regulator I purchase. Plus a 5 year warranty can't be beat! DMF

    CO2 Regulator

Micro Matic has/had an Economy line regulator that looked kind of lousy but the Premium line I have is solid and easy to adjust with no creep whatsoever and I would have no questions about buying another depending on price. DMF

    CO2 Regulator

I can't imagine not having a shutoff valve. What a PITA! DMF

    CO2 Regulator

Micro Matic and Taprite are pretty close to even. I happen to slightly prefer Micro Matic as it just seems better built and do like the addition of a pressure relief valve that is available on only some models of Taprite. If you read the Amazon reviews more Taprites are returned for defects...

    Cereal killer discontinued?

This appears to be identical to the CK I own. Probably the same thing just rebranded...

    Floating dip tube

I just got a couple of Flotit 2.0s. The thing is if you try to do a closed transfer you can't go through the liquid out post because with the Flotit 2.0 filter it will just clog. There are ways to get around this like going through the "in" post and opening up the PRV but I like a return line...

Did Northern Brewer Purchase Austin Homebrew AND/OR Adventures in Brewing?

As the saying goes, "They cooked their goose"! Not going back to NB. DMF

Did Northern Brewer Purchase Austin Homebrew AND/OR Adventures in Brewing?

Pre NB take over AIH was the place to get used corny kegs and I had bought several that were in pretty good shape form there. But after the NB take over I searched for other sources to get used corny kegs and stumbled upon The Chi Company and not only were the corny kegs cheaper they were in...

    Northern Brewer - Buyer Beware

I'm way over NB and it's associates. I don't even think about them anymore. MoreBeer, Ritebrew and SoCo Homebrew is all I need. DMF

    Midwest Supply

I no longer do business with any company affiliated with Northern Brewer. For everyone who is I have found a replacement online store for. I got tired of Northern Brewer's poor excuses and it's no longer worth the hassle regardless of what kind of bargain emails they may send me. You shouldn't...

    Us05 experience

I've actually tried K-97 with an Altbier but not a Kolsch. I didn't mind it or taste any kind of "tart" it tasted clean to me. What I hate about US-05 is the peach flavor. I've used a lot of Muntons Dry Ale Yeast which is an English yeast and I've had good results with it too. DMF

    Us05 experience

I was reffering to Cellar Science Cali Yeast, https://www.morebeer.com/products/cellarscience-cali-dry-yeast.html Going to give K-97 and S-04 a try but definetly didn't like US-05 DMF

    Us05 experience

When I first started homebrewing, one of the first kits I brewed came with Cali dry yeast. I thought it was really good. After being told it was just repackaged US-05, I purchased four 11 gr packets of US-05 from my usual online store because they didn't carry Cali yeast. Well, the first time I...

    Dry Kolsch Yeast Recommendations

I've had quite a few of the real Kolsch's from Cologne and I think you pretty much have to take it for what it is. You can make a Kolsch that sort of tastes like an authentic one but regardless of what yeast you use you will never get it exact. I have used Koln yeast about 3 times and always...

Help with co2 tank valve leak

Actually I have 2 adaptors. One is like the one shown in the video but a little shorter and the other one has a hose with a shut off valve so that I can fill the newer style soda stream bottles that have that valve that is made to not be easily refillable. DMF

Help with co2 tank valve leak

Correct I turn the CO2 tank upside down leaning up against a corner of the room. You want to fill the liquid not the gas. But I do use that sort of an adaptor to fill my soda stream bottles. DMF

Help with co2 tank valve leak

From the video it may be possible the burst disk has been blown or there isn't an o ring on the valve stem that threads into the tank but it's hard to say from just looking at the video. I would dip it in water and slowly crack the valve and try and see where the leak is coming from. I refill a...

    Northern Brewer and ship times

When enough people get tired of this kind of run around and stop shopping there maybe NB will get over itself and realize maybe there's a problem. DMF

    Northern Brewer and ship times

Have not had a good experience with NB. Always an excuse for everything! Slow shipping times, high prices and just no longer worth the trouble. I use Ritebrew when able but the shipping can be a little high at times. MoreBeer is my main source, a great no nonsense company that always comes...

    Homebrewing Nightmare

This same thing happened to me with an Alt. It was caused by a universal poppet in my out post. Somehow the poppet managed to turn a little sideways and enable the beer to leak out. I can remember checking my keezer that morning and nearly hitting the roof! Later on I found out it was only a...
