    bud light wheat?

Had it last night. Tastes like somebody dumped a blue moon into a bud light, and added some OJ. I have had worse.

    Aeration vs. Degassing

It works awesome. After nearly dropping a wet carboy while trying to shake it, I bought one. I have used it on many batches.

    Thinking of starting home brew

I can't speak for the rest of these guys, but I definitely save money brewing my own. Miller light prices for Quality beer taste. You can brew 5 gallons for $20 us. This hobby isn't about anything other than what you are looking to get out of it. If that is cheap beer, then go for it.

I add yeast to my cooled wort and shake the crap out of it. Is that wrong?

I bought a wine stirrer. I put it in the end of a drill and it gets nice and bubbly. It cost $20. However what you are doing is fine. I just almost dropped a wet carboy doing that, and it scared me...

    Two Brother's Domaine DuPage recipe

Why don't you just go and buy the stuff from the brewers coop? I'm pretty sure they sell clones, if you are lucky enough to find them at a time when they actually HAVE ingredients in stock.

    cooling the wort...which way???

There is ZERO reason to do an ice bath, unless you can get 30 lbs of ice for free. I built my chiller for $20.76. While my wort was on the burner, in 10 minutes. It also stores in the brew pot (obviously.)

    Thoughts on Northern Brewer kits?

I just got 2 kits from NB, everything looked good, and the yeast packages had a date stamp on them from 3 weeks ago.

    Noob question on Grain bags

I was shown to "sparge" the bag, by dipping a container into the wort and pouring over the bag a few times.

    Am I a beer snob?

A good place will not only ALWAYS serve in a glass, but will have the right glass for each beer you order.

    LHBS Pet Peeves

My local shop is also a brewery, and kind of gave up on the shop when their beer became more popular. I actually drive past it to go to a decent place. At least the Chicago burbs have a couple good shops. Just a further drive.

Looking for good HomeBrew store near Arlington Heights, IL

Don't go to the brewers coop in Warrenville. It sucks. I heard the shop in st. charles is good, but I haven't been there.
