I was at NB in Asheville last week and purchased a couple of bottles that are corked and caged I will see if it says anything on the bottles

    Trading dregs?

This I can follow. I have 4 Jester King bottles that I will fall on the sward and use this method to culture. I have used bottle dregs as a add to my long term sours but not to culture. I have several Russian River, De Garde, and Burial that I could do the same. Once I nail that I can tackle...

    Trading dregs?

Ha! Just in Tennessee so not too bad. I need to work on some culturing procedures. I have Jolly Pumpkin, Jester King, Wicked Weed, Burial, The Vail, Yazoo, Russian River, Alligash, Odd Story, West 6th, Mantra, Cigar City and a few others. I travel a ton for work so I always try to grab a few...

I have some really good ones but sounds like this is more of an area specific deal so guess I’m out.

    Trading dregs?

I’d love to join in this. I have a decent little collection of sours from a good range of breweries but I need to drink and then culture them. Work work work!

Best Corker for Belgian Style Beers

Thank you! I’d love to hear from anyone who has used the either the Portuguese or Italian floor corker. I’m leaning towards the Italian for the brass iris but would love to hear thoughts

Best Corker for Belgian Style Beers

I have started doing more Belgian mixed fermentation style beers and want to bottle them with cork and cage bottles. I haven’t bottled a beer in 10 plus years. Looking for recommendations on the best floor corker for the job and any tips/tricks. Thank you in advance for the help! I have a Brett...

    Spike Complete System

I have shared this on another post about the Spike system but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t here. I have done 6 batches this year where I do an overnight mash. Basically get the water heating while I get my grain bill ready then mash in before bed. Set the alarm for 5:30-6:00 get up and start a...

Using Stater Beer to Top UP

I have three long term sours that I started last month. I used mixed cultures in all three. I do not plan to move them to secondaries for several months if ever. I have seen that a lot of people top up to give less surface area for oxygen to settle. I have just built a four liter starter for...

I’m not familiar with the steam slayer can you expand on that?

    Spike System (20 gal) Review

I use a slightly longer piece of tubing and coil it on top of the grain bed. I always run pump full bore during mash. If there is a substantial amount of wheat I use rice hulls never had an issue. I stick to the 1.35 quarts per pound of grain they recommend. After about 25 brews I have really...

    Spike Complete System

Personally I would rather go bigger kettles that go tri-clamp if you can. I have the push to connect and don’t see the need to upgrade. Also, if you can, upgrade the panel to 50amp so you can run both burners.
