    1st Brew Success!

The two tips I can give to you for the next batch is get a fermentation chamber and move to mini-mash ASAP. It will make the difference and will give you some good experience before switching to AG. Welcome to the club!!! Dont worry, relax, and have a hombrew.

    Fermentation Chamber Problems

So I have a 7cuft chest freezer that I installed into a Ranco temperature controller. It has been working awesome as a fermentation chamber for the 2 months Ive had it. I just noticed that now it cant even get below 70 degrees in the freezer and I think the thing is busted. Ive been trouble...

    Bubbly beer during bottling

Great, thanks alot guys. I would have hated to wait 9 weeks for my Bock and then turn out to have something wrong with it. It all makes alot of sense too.

    Bubbly beer during bottling

So I was bottling my American Bock today and noticed something strange. I had just got done lagering it for 4 weeks at ranges from 38-40 degress in my fermentation chamber and then I went to bottle it and noticed that the beer was already bubbly and already seemed carbonated. Is this normal or...

    Small Kitchen BIAB

I boil with the lid on but leave a crack to let the steam out and prevnet boil overs. I have also read over deathbrewers AG brewing instructions, Im just worried that pots that big wont do too well on my electric stove top.

Tell of your past brewer self.

Very true, I am working on getting the components for e kegging system now. I wish I had though about it earlier but I thought putting the money into a fermentation chamber was more important for now.

Tell of your past brewer self.

I would also tell myself to build my fermentation chamber ASAP AS IN RIGHT NOW SUCKER!!!! Also, get your math right about calculating your ABV. It is damn near impossible to have a Hefe that is 15% ABV.

Tell of your past brewer self.

Ok, so here is the scenario. If you could go back in time and tell yourself anything when you first started brewing what would you tell yourself. I would tell myself to slow down, relax, and keep it easy.

    Small Kitchen BIAB

So I am looking to get into AG brewing soon and I am looking in to the BIAB method. The problem is I live in an apartment with a limited space on the stove top and the complex does not allow you to have even propane burners on the porch. I can have any kind of cooker/burner that is electric on...

    New kegerator advice

So I am in the market for a new kegerator. I was wondering if anybody out there who has a premanufactured kegerator with three taps has had problems fitting three homebrew corney kegs in it? Just wondering if I should get one with two or three taps.

    Ale Fermentation Temps

I would be interested to know as well. Since I came to this realization this morning I put my Hefe that I brewed yesterday afternoon which started fermenting overnight on ice in a cooler to about 62-65.

    Ale Fermentation Temps

Thats a great system, I just cant be home to change out the ice when needed because of my job. So I am thinking the chest freezer will be great. I dont have to worry about changing out ice packs, I can start lagering, and I can have extra space for foods and such.

    Ale Fermentation Temps

My problem is because of my job I am gone for 24 hour shifts and sometimes when I get overtime or do shift trades like tomorrow and wednesday I will be gone for 48 hours straight. I also have nobody who would be here to change out the ice packs and watch the temperature for me. Even when I am...

    Ale Fermentation Temps

Will it really make a difference if it is brewed at temperatures in the lower range then in the higher range?
  15. ATXweirdobrew

    Ale Fermentation Temps

I already know that Ale yeasts ferment best at temperatures ranging from 60-76 degress F. Problem with that is I live in Texas during the hottest part of the year and I am finding myself running the AC all day long and burning up alot of electricity just to keep my fermenting ales at the 75-76...

    Seeking kegging wisdom.

Thanks for all the great advice. Here is the kegerator I am looking at http://www.beveragefactory.com/draftbeer/kegerators/triplekegerator/HBF05EBSS-3_Triple_Faucet_Kegerator.shtml. Of course I am upgrading to the better regulator and be using pink locks since they are cheaper and easier to...

    Seeking kegging wisdom.

Exactly what I was referring too. I do not mind waiting a few extra days to have my beer acheive a more refined taste. Quality comes with time.

    Seeking kegging wisdom.

Thanks for the great replies so far. I am seeking to get the dual tap, I just dont really brew way too much with how busy my life is. I typically brew only about 3 batches a month and would still like to bottle one every now and then so I can have something more portable to take to a friend's...

    Seeking kegging wisdom.

Hello all, I have been in the brewing business for alittle over half a year now and I am already fed up with bottling. I am saving my pennies and dimes for a dual tap kegerator and I am wondering if any of my fellow brewers have any bits of wisdom for me before I embark on this adventure. Any...

    All grain mashes.

Wow, such great replies. Thanks for all the tips guys, I do plan on working my way up after getting more experience with extract brews then partial mashes before going AG. I have a 5 gal pot and just wanted to also make sure that would be large enough to make the wort I needed for the brew. I...
