Bottling nitro stout for a comp.

Ohhh come on. Who hasnt played with liquid nitrogen before? Nitrogen cannons were an awesome experiment in college(part of my chemistry course). If I still lived in Houghton I would definitely try bottling some nitro beers. From what I recall the liguid Nitrogen was fairly easy to come by as...

Bottling nitro stout for a comp.

From my understanding you should be able to do exactly this, when I use Beer Gas i generally bottle a few here and there. All I do is bleed off head pressure and bottle as normal. Being that the mix is 25/75 shouldn't the partial pressure(9 psi @ 44°F) be about 2 Vol of CO2?

    Identify this fridge

If you can’t find anything my brother-in-law has an identical fridge in his house. His is a GE from the 60s. Most of the tags are still readable too. I could try to get some pictures for you if your interested.

12 Beers of Christmas 2020 Edition

Had me fooled! The spice profile was very nice and had me thinking along the lines of Belgian. Loving the old ale by @Yeroc. The subtle Brett character blends nicely with the base beer. Could drink these all night.

12 Beers of Christmas 2020 Edition

Forgot to post this last night! Great job @Ultryx. The spices are present and pleasant. Might let the next one warm up a bit before drinking. The last drink was the best 😁 What yeast did you use in this? Was it something Belgian?

    Delivery Driver Gifts?

Anyone leave any homebrew for your delivery driver(s) around the holidays? From my understanding they are allowed to accept just about anything as a gift(Ive heard they dont have to report any gifts received). Considering leaving a few different flavors that are on tap currently for my driver.

12 Beers of Christmas 2020 Edition

Just unpacked from @Ultryx! I think I’ll take the suggestion of the label and crack one open now. Love getting cold beer dropped off on my porch.

    Cold Crashing and Mylar Balloons

I dont reuse but I dont see any reason not to as long as you dont get any blowoff into the lines or balloon. I just toss and use a new one as I dont cold crash every beer I make.

    Cold Crashing and Mylar Balloons

Completely normal. All you have to do is fish a piece of tubing in until you feel it break through that seal. Thats what I use on beers that I cold crash and haven't had a problem. Normally I will fit a TEE between the fermenter, balloon and airlock though and start with an empty, new, balloon...

Wish I would have known the Christmas Gruit had bailed last year I totally would have jumped in! I had brewed it in September in hopes of being able to get in this year. Just a quick note to add my point of view for people ghosting. Maybe we should have a mandatory check-in late summer? A lot...

beer taste flat when keg is half empty

How are you checking the pressure in the keg? If you are relying on your regulator you could have a faulty gauge? I have a separate gauge setup, 0-60 psi, that I use for checking pressures in kegs at various stages. Are you using the correct regulator also? I dont bring this up often but when...

Can I use this as a Grain Mill Motor?

You can get away with a lot less motor if you want to be thrifty. I bought this little guy off amazon(~$35 when i got it) after doing some quick calcs to figure out how much torque is needed to turn a homebrew size mill(I have the cereal killer). A simple coupler and a bracket and youre milling...
