    Why Kveik?

Can you describe your phenol off flavor? Also what kind of beer? Starting gravity? What was the process on brew day? Definitely sounds like an infection as miraculix pointed out. Edit: you beat me. 😂

    Why Kveik?

Love the high temp limits. For anything needing neutral yeast I use Lutra and dont have to take up valuable ferm chamber space. I will admit I have found a few faults of some of the Kveik strains. As with any brew you learn and dont repeat right? Its just like any other yeast or tool in that it...

Who here works in or owns a brewery?

I am in process of opening one, late spring/early summer projected opening. But I am "working" in it every weekend :)

Dry/Flat taste after kegging and force carbing

If you didnt see any offgassing then you may have had a leak somewhere. Plastic lids dont seal that well so oxygen could be the issue. I just dumped a full 5 gallons of a scottish ale that I fermented in a spare bucket fermenter I had due to everything else being full. After 10 days in primary...

    Moonshine mash dilemma

The amylase will actually convert the starch in the corn mash that you made to sugars, which the yeast can then convert to alcohol. Without any enzymes you just have a big pot of starch which the yeast cannot convert to alcohol.

    Still Trouble with Low FG

Cheap refractometer or name brand? I ask because I had one in a lot of items I bought off someone that had a different SG scale vs the brix scale. When comparing the two refractometers side by side the brix reading were the same but SG was off anywhere from 3-5 points.

New post a picture of your pint

Mock American Lager w/Lutra @ 6% ABV. A friend asked if I could brew a Busch/Bud like beer so I didn’t want to waste any time 😁 turned out great!

Metallic Taste in all beer in new keezer

I was searching for a similar answer shortly after I bought a brand new taprite 2 product regulator. It eventually disappeared on its own but a member here chimed in later on and said that all new regulators should be “purged” at a high pressure/with no hoses connected to get rid of any oils or...

    Frozen Keg, Over Carb'd

If you turned off the gas before the keg froze/got colder than your serving temp then it should not be overcarbed. Are you sure that it has completely thawed? It takes a while for 5 gallons of ice to thaw in a refrigerator. If you still have a half a keg of ice messing with the carbonation now...

Combined Fridge/Freezer - can it be used for a kegerator?

If the size works for you then yes it would work just fine. As far as controlling the temp of the fridge it depends on how it is controlled from the factory. I have a fermentation fridge that I use like this(sometimes a serving fridge too). The freezer is always cold and I used an STC1000 to...

    Stains on glassware

Hand washed or Dishwasher? Could it be hard water scale? Could try some CLR to see if that clears them up.

Fellowship of the Home Brew XIII: Never Give up, Never Surrender!

Haha. @whoeveryouarenow I wish I could find deals on 2.5 gallon kegs. I can get in service pin locks for $15. 🤔 I know some decent welders. Maybe I could modify some to be 2.5-3 gallons?

Fellowship of the Home Brew XIII: Never Give up, Never Surrender!

Doing beer math last night and I think I need a few more kegs if I continue on my brew schedule as is. Not a bad problem to have right? Good thing I have a cheap local source for pin locks :)
