    Adding a Peppermint Flavor?

For this Christmas I want to brew a hot chocolate stout. So when I think of a hot chocolate I think of chocolate, peppermint, and milky flavors. I am going to base it off of a milk stout and add some additional chocolate malts. My question is does any one have any experience adding a...

    Home Brew speech criticism

Good luck offsetting the hundreds of millions of dollars just by raising the liquor tax. That would not even work. Optimistic but not logical. Not to mention the majority of tax paying citizens would not support paying more just so kids 18-20 can drink.... don't to argue or debate though... its...

    Home Brew speech criticism

The federal government has a legal drinking age old 18 years old but specifies the state government has the right to levy a different drinking restriction. They enforce this law by restricting transportation fundingcan to the states if the drinking age is below 21. Do a little more research when...

    Help! Brew is going nowhere!

So I bottled it today didn't see any decrease in gravity. So my FG = 1.024. Which gives me an ABV of 6.41%. In thinking about doing this for next time... more hops and figure out what I can do to make this a "bigger" beer. I attached two pictures. I think it will clear up some... we will see...

    Gravity issues weighing me down

I have the same issue. I had a gingerbread ale that I did. It was a nutbrown base. I added 2lbs of malt extra which brought me to an OG of 1.072. My FG is 1.024. I had even repitched to get it going again and nothing worked. Some guys suggested that I should have added more nutrients before...

    Help! Brew is going nowhere!

I started with an extract. I also used crystal and chocolate malt/grain mix. I am just disappointed and was thinking my FG was going to be lower and my abv higher considering I added that extra 2lbs. Sent from my DROIDX using Home Brew Talk

    Help! Brew is going nowhere!

So about 4 or 5 weeks ago I brewed a gingerbread ale. It was based off of a nut brown ale. I added some spices and 2lbs of additional malt. The nut brown ale with out the additional malt should yield an ABV of about 6.0-6.5% so adding the additional malt should have brought me up to around 8%...

+1 if it counts even though it wasn't mine... My old man pulled out his brewing stuff to find a bag of DME got wet. So I thought id help him. Need less to say, when trying to work everything that was in a box with the DME out of that caramel goodness, boom cracked the stem of the hydrometer...
